Default best wax for trucks?

My dad just bought a new '03 Z71. It's the burgundy color. Anyway, he wants to wax it to help keep all the salt/dirt from damaging the paint. Since a truck is a real pain in the *** to wax, what wax would provide the longest protection? I know everyone loves the look of Zaino, but does it last?

Zaino looks badass for show cars and garage queens, but it never lasts as long as the cheaper stuff. I just use Meguiars 3-step wax system on my cars and they look great.

Welcome to the site, and be sure to check out our truck forums.

If your father isn’t a hardcore detailer and wants a fail safe plan; Nine Ball was dead on. Meguiars has detailing products are pre-matched so you don’t have to shop around. When detailing a car you basically have 3 steps:

1. Clean (soap)
2. Cleanse (cleaner or a polish)
3. Protect (wax or polymer)

I have always had good luck with "Liquid Glass" on my daily drivers . . .

The truth is Zaino lasts and protects the best. It is a synthetic polymer that bonds to the paint and layer to layer. Wax has very limited durability. Even people who HATE Zaino reluctantly admit that Zaino is very durable.

I put in my vote for zaino. Been using it on my cars and you can't beat the shine.

Best looking (IMHO) - Pinnacle Souveran

Longest Lasting - Probably Zaino

Best combination of both - BLACKFIRE!!!
