Default New pics - !side molding and decals

I decided to remove the side molding on my car today. It wasn't hard, I used a heat gun to warm up the adhesive, then used a piece of dental floss to get it started before switching to a razor blade to slice through the adhesive. Taking the adhesive off was time-consuming, and I still need to get some small bits off here and there. It looks so much better without the molding on there. Also, a few weeks ago I removed an SLP windshield banner and front Firebird logo decal that the previous owner had put on. They were red, and clashed with the NBM paint. Here's what it used to look like:

And here's what it looks like now:

I'm going to change the wheels...I hate TT2's on Firebirds. I'm going for a sleeper look, but with subtle differences from stock. The TT2's will be replaced with silver C6 replicas.

lokks good, a lot cleaner. any thoughts on debadging it as well? i got rid of the side moldings and badges a bit ago, and love it. so much cleaner looking.

the c6's will look really good too once they're on there. what size are you going with? any thoughts on dropping it a bit?

Looks good! Now just polish those wheels and take some simple green to the wheel wells and it will look perfect!

I'm not going to debadge it. I think it looks good with just the badges and no molding.

I'm going with 18" C6s. I'm thinking 18x9.5 up front and 18x10.5 out back. I want to have 315s on the rear wheels. I'm looking at the OEWheels C6 replicas, but I'm a little concerned about the offsets.

looks good.

tip for the future on the adheasive removing:
get aircraft adheasive and decal remover (can get at o'rielys) spray it on and let sit for 10 mins and the left over adheasive almost just wipes off!

I used Turtle Wax Bug and Tar remover. It did a good job on the one adhesive area that gave me trouble (most of the adhesive strips just peeled off in solid pieces, but one section was just gooey). However, it did not really do anything on the harder residue left over.

Looks nice without the moulding, I'd leave the badges though.

Just in my humble opinion, I'd keep the TTII's!

Eh, to each his own, I guess. I've never really liked them. To me, they only really belong on Mustangs or old-school muscle cars. I prefer traditional 5-spoke and "mesh" wheels on Firebirds.

You are right, to each his own. However, I don't think you can get a more 'traditional 5-spoke', like you said, than TTII's. Everyone and their mom and her dog have Corvette replicas, much fewer have TTII's. Either way though, there was a guy here that was looking to buy some somewhere so you'll def. be able to sell em'!

Looks much better. I think the C6's will look good especially with some 315's. Needs to be lowered some as well.

I agree with Trust there are a neverending amount of fbodys with corvette replicas, hell im one of them! I think if you lowered it and kept the TTII's it would look good. good luck regardless
