Default new grille.

just got my 6LE grille in today. and before a million ppl come in here and say it, YES i'm going to paint the bumper behind the grille black. just didn't have time to do it today. plus the bumper is getting completely repainted soon anyways.

also just got my tech stickers in from bigworm. they look great, nice and stealthy.

thanks man.

yeah, pretty sure what ever rims i go with i am going to stay away from shiney. for my budget i was thinking about the silver deep dish zr1's.

like bad karma's car:

or i could keep the black theme going and do black zr1's.

WOW! that made a huge difference. it already looked good once you swapped the grill, but painting the background really finished it off nicely. good job.

how did you go about lining up the masking tape to paint it?

if you look closely you can see that i had to improvise alot around the sharp curves, lots of over lapping tape, and yes it bled a little, but because its behind the grille no1 will ever notice

krylon fusion outdoor.

i wet sanded with 1000 grit, wiped and cleaned the surface. sprayed 3 coats black, 15 min between each coat. then took duplicolor clear coat and sprayed 2 coats with 10 min between each coat. pulled the masking after 30 min of dry time and intalled the grille after an additional 30 min for good measure. it was humid out so the paint sprayed a little blotchy but again for what it is, it's fine. still shiney and smooth enough.

actually i yanked it part of the way out and had to use dikes to cut the 5 fasteners off. but my car had been in a wreck and the body shop used different fasteners than the factory.
