Renewed My Faded Wipercowl
A cheap mod that makes one helluva difference . My wipercowl was probably similar to a lot of yours; it looked greyish and faded but when wiped down with vinyl cleaner/conditioner it looked decent...for a time-being, then it would go back to looking like crap. Well I picked up a small bottle of trim treatment called Blue Coral (discontinued) and went ahead w/ applying it to the much needed wiper cowl and the plastic sidewalls of my rear tail lights and rain-gutter corners. There are many like-products, so do not be discouraged that the one I used is no longer being made. Companies like Bondo and Forever Black are just two examples of possible options. I also did a quick detail prior to doing the trim treatment using Zaino's products. I never used Zaino's detailing products before and I must admit I was definitely impressed with the results, but was not convinced enough to be a dedicated user; black is a difficult color to please and I'm very picky.

thanks man, my t/a is getting there, still needs wheels though. I just can't decide which wheels to get and what budget to follow, but once those are in I'm strictly saving every penny so I can start my turbo build.
Don't focus on the brand I chose but the product I used. They are dyes and are less than $10. Back to black is a mainstream brand so that's always a safe bet. Instead of using silicone/petroleum products this is a polymer infusing black dye that is applied w/ a rag/brush/sponge and is permanently dying your vinyl trim black. The chemicals used are OEM factory chemicals. What happens w/ silicone products is that it temporarily achieves a satisfying glossy dark finish but it tends to make things like our wiper cowls in an even worse state of condition than what it was prior to using the product, that's why this is the only method of permanently addressing this fading problem. Hope that helped you out.
EDIT: I added you on PS3.
thanks man, we have a similar taste in modding. fyi I was motivated to renew my plastic trim by your thread.
IMO that's unnecessary and bothersome. Just mask off the surrounding area and lay it down. Took me less than a half an hour, taking my time.

hahaha **** I just checked the bottle and it said it was made in 1994, it was discontinued. My dad found it in the garage so that explains a lot. Forever Black and Bondo are just two companies that make these types of products. You can easily find a kit through Autogeek's website or Amazon.

That's what I like to hear! do it...it literally doesn't cost anything more than $9, takes 30-45minutes of your time, and is probably the most rewarding mod for a 40k > Fbody. Makes the plastic look better than brand new w/ the way it revitalizes the color and brings back the texture
