National Speed: 2008 Chevrolet Corvette Z06 - Even More Head Turning...
The goal with this gentleman's car was simple; "When I first got the car brand new in 2008, I used to walk into my garage at night and get stopped in my tracks just to stare at the car for minutes on end. I've lost that, I want that back, what can we do? I just want to look at the car, and say "AWWWW YEAH!" to myself. Make it happen."
So, we got to work on finding his perfect wheel (the biggest challenge with any customer spending this much on wheels, they want perfection, and rightfully so). We sorted through HRE Wheels' collection, nothing jumped out at him surprisingly enough. We sorted through CCW's collection, and it all seemed too simple design wise and performance based for his purposes (he hit the nail on the head, CCW is about raw performance, not image).
Finally, he found the wheel company he wanted to go with; ADV1 Wheels.
This isn't a company we dealt with in the past, but after a phone call, and speaking with a gentleman named Miguel in sales, it was clear we needed to give them a try. These guys are on their game, Miguel knew off the top of his head what sizes and offsets are most advantageous for a street-purposed Z06, and offered great input on styling with their vast examples of previous Z06s.
While we were working on the wheels, we also got rolling on accentuating the Z06 lines a bit better. What better way than APR Performance's carbon fiber front air dam and side splitters? Peter at APR Performance is the man as always, and got us taken care of, the parts came in four days later as promised.
The front air dam...
Close up...
Badging on the underside...
The side splitters...
Close up...
While we were waiting on the wheel decision, and we decided to go ahead and get the carbon fiber components installed;
John rolling on installing the side splitters first...
The rear deflector panels...
Mocked up in place...
Perfect...
Passenger side...
Driver side...
John getting the front end installed...
Fit and finished...
Finished...
"The evil is out there... Waiting... And maybe... Just maybe... It's closer than you think..."
(I love this picture)
Sitting out front, looking pretty... Needs wheels...
I should note, that the fitment on the APR Performance components is absolutely fantastic! It fits like OEM, perfectly tight, no gaps whatsoever, which is especially rare with carbon fiber.
Back to wheels;
After much debate, we came down to the five-spoke ADV5.1 and the split-V ADV7.1 wheels. After a while of going back and forth on which was the way to go, Jordan at ADV1 stepped in and sent us a test set of ADV5.1 wheels off a display Z06... Seriously... Wow... So we installed them, of course.
345/25R20 in comparison to my size 13s...
John installing the rear wheels...
Installed...
I love this angle, so beautiful...
Out front...
It needs to come down in the rear, and just a touch up front...
After driving the wheels around for a while, and looking at the car in a few different lights, and really letting it settle on him, the customer decided on the ADV7.1 split-V wheels.
And here they are...
The rear; 20 x 13...
My size 13s again...
Rear in comparison to front...
Eibach lowering bolts being installed this round too...

John mounting and balancing the massive tire combination...
Cleaning the tire lubrication off...
Installing the rear lowering bolts...
Beautiful wheels...
Rear lowered .625", new wheels and tires installed, ready to roll...
The finished product (for now)...
This project was a success, the customer loves the car again, and it looks mean as hell at both stand still and coming down the road alike.
Up next;
- APR Performance rear carbon fiber lip spoiler
- Lower front .500"+/-
- Black covered corner lenses
- Some power to compliment the new aesthetics
So to review; Miguel and Jordan at ADV1 Wheels; awesome. Peter at APR Performance; awesome (as always). And a C6 Z06 with some attention from both companies comes out looking absolutely phenominal.

We appreciate the kind words, guys.
Agreed.
The front tire sizes are as follows;
Front - Nitto INVO 285/25R20
Rear - Nitto INVO 345/25R20
The first set (ADV5.1 five-spoke) is a gloss gunmetal lip with matte black center. The second set (ADV7.1 split-V) is a micro texture gunmetal finish.

We've had some less-than-great experiences with iForged, I don't recommend them to my customers. Poor support, low structural integrity, heavy, etc. The designs look great, but it's nothing you can't get in a CCW (i.e. exceptional support, extremely high quality, lightweight, etc.).
Personally, it would have been Mag Blue 20" Volk TE-37s for me.
