New seat upholstery/ detailed an 'ol LT1
The interior was done last summer, I just now snapped some pictures of them. The upholstery is from hawksthirdgen and it's the granite color. I debated on going ebony, but I'm glad I opted for the lighter shade. I also took apart the door panels and used a red hampton vinyl on the doors. I also whipped out the menzerna intensive polish/ final polish/ glaze/ and FMJ for some early summer detailing.

Thanks for the compliments!
The door panels aren't too bad, but they take patience. The insert is held in by plastic retainers. The instructions I read recommended using a sodering iron to melt the plastic and bend it out the way, and then simply reversing that process to reinstall it. The sodering iron didnt work very well and only wanted to push the plastic around. I ended up using a heat gun and heating the plastic until it was mendable enough to get the insert off. I had the insert upholstered and then its get a bit tricky. To reinstall, I bent the plastic tabs over and then used a short screw in a couple locations. I screwed into the plastic tab to tighten the panel down. You have to reinstall the weather stripping that was held on by staples, I used the short screws. All in all, not too bad.
I found instructions on those site for a Trans Am, I just used the same concepts. The inserts are nice and tight and I couldn't be happier.

I didnt need any time to get used to it lol. The car came with the red and black cloth interior. Red/black seats with red cloth on the door panels. I was intending on matching the panels to the seats until I had the new seats with the old door panel inserts. The red was just enough color to the interior without being gaudy like the stock seats. I then decided on the red vinyl. To each his own though.
^I installed the upholstery myself. It is very straightforward with a little bit of patience.

Edit: 1995blacktatop is one example of a Trans Am with this kit. He has the same color as I do, but the flash really lightens the color in the picture. His pictures appear to be directly after install, so they aren't formed up perfectly yet. I would recommend this kit for anyone. I actually prefer the hampton vinyl material over a set of GM leather seats. The hampton is a thicker and softer material. It feels much more durable. I had a set of '02 Ebony leather seats in my car for a while before swapping them into dad's '68, and the stock leather feels thin enough that I tried not to slide into the car to avoid wearing out the bolster lol.
