Default Where to Mount 5 inch Tach w/shift light

Does anyone have a idea of a good mounting spot for an after market tach w/ light.

Steering column right side was my first choice but not sure on how to do it?

most people seem to just do them in the middle of the dash above the radio, or to the left of the steering wheel on the dash.

Exactly my Point here!!
The best place for a 5" tach is in a 60-80s model car!!! There are WAY too many options now as far as nice digital and analog gauges, in a plethera of sizes, small enough to fit anywhere in a fbody. JMO tho

I have mine mounted on the A-pillar, resting on the dash. It's not in the way of anything at all. In this position it's very easy to see what rpm you're at when your WOT.

Dont mount it at all, its way to "tacky" (pun intended).

You could just go with a shift light tastefully placed somewhere like the bottom of the A pillar in the vent. I mean you're gonna shift when the tach's light comes on anyway right? so why bother even having the tach?

True, I should have got the shift light instead of the whole monster tach but its mostly for show or the old school cars that dont have a tack. But not tacky!!!!! Just dont need a tach if you got one..

I agree with these guys as far as taste. Not to be a dick by any means, but have you checked out alternatives? I just got my new autometer catalog come to think of it, thousands of gauges in that puppy! There are many options out there and you might find something you like better. Only a suggestion, not attacking/puting you down by any means-if you like it mount her up

what about guys that need a bigger rpm range than what the stock tach has to offer? I dont want to be reading a 3" gauge to try and figure out between 7K and 7500 rpms...

im putting mine to the left of the steering wheel next to my pillar gauges

your still going to rely on a shift light to tell you when to shift, so why put a big gaudy tach on your dash. I think they look awful, no matter where they are placed. They just scream "HEY CHECK OUT MY HUGE TACH!!"

some cars it looks good in. others... pointless. i have one lying around that i was going to put in just to check my stock tach. but its wayyy to big. there wasnt a place where i could put it to make it flow.

the worst was when i saw a 5" monster tach on an auto civic that was Hysterical!

What are you reving your engine to?!
I will be shifting at 7600 rpm and the stock tach does not go that high so i am installing two small lights, yellow (shift) and red (back off).
