Default Are any ebay SS hoods any good?

need to get a new SS hood, was wondering if any of the repo SS hoods that are on ebay are any good.

any brand or seller any better than another.

I realize it will need to be painted and all that, but im just worried that some of these require hood pins, and im not down with that.

thanks in advance.

FYI you pay for what you get.

^^^EXACTLY

That being said, probably not.... Get an OEM one if you can. I got a flawless OEM ss hood on craigslist for $550. I have seen a couple good aftermarket ones, but I don't know what companies made them.

"you get what you pay for" is only true in some circumstances, does not really apply or add anything to the conversation. In a lot of cases a 300 part works as well as one that is 1000.

years ago a plasma tv was 6000, now the same one is 700 and looks better.

I think you will regret it based on fit and quality, but do whatever you want. I think the best option for aftermarket hoods is VFN fiberglass, which has some of the best fitting hoods I have seen. I don't think fleebay is the best place to search for body parts unless they are OEM. Just my .02 cents

Let me say this, you buy a Ebay hood, and I will show a guy pulling his hair out when he cannot get it to fit good or the sucker weighs as MUCH if NOT MORE then a stocker steel hood.

FYI I got a used WS.9 hood, used but un painted for 450$ still cost some good coin for having ALL the front clip re shot NBM and re fitted.

All was worth it though.

IF you want a good company go to VFN.

I have gotten some really good deals on Ebay. I bought a set drilled and slotted disc's for $125 shipped and they have been on the car for about a year and they are Great. I just bought an SS Hood made of fiberglass for $199 New. I will let you know how it is in about 10 days when it arrives. There are good deals if you take your time and look for them. I've seen stock hoods for $1600, I asked the guy if he would wear a mask when he delivered it. The Problem is that some people want to steal from the poor fool, and the poor fool doesn't know any better. That is why we have sites like this one!

They may not fit right, When my car was hit, and my OEM WS6 hood was destroyed, I bought a Certifit one, and it kind of sucks...

yeah, I'd suggest giving yourself some time to try and find an OEM hood for sale from a parts car, through the classifieds here, or Craigslist.

VFN and Trufiber are popular makers, of aftermarket hoods, and they're not too bad on prices.

that being said, i have bought 2 ebay hoods. loved em both. I didn't install, but my body guy got them fitted perfectly and the gaps all look fine, so i'm very happy with my purchases. And both cost about the same as one would be from most other companies, which was good on my pocket. quality hasn't been an issue with either, both are great.

there's a member on here with an SS hood from the same seller and it fits great, and he's happy with it as well. I'll try to dig up the thread where he posted pics.

the trans am's hood

They are around, you just need to look harder. BUT when your ready, and IF you cannot get one, just go to VFN, they even sell a WS.9 Copy which look hella sick.
