Default What polish to use on VHT taillights?

Like the title says, I've recently used VHT on my taillights and am going to be polishing them up soon, was wondering what polish would make them shine the best. I'll be wetsanding them with 1k grit and moving my way up to 2k so they're nice and smooth but wanted to know what polish worked best on plastic and would give that glass like shine.

The VHT is going to act like paint in terms of sanding and polishing. When I did mine I just sanded to 2000 and then used a scratch/swirl remover, then a very light compound, a glaze, then a wax.

Do you recall what brands exactly you used? I want to make sure I do it right the first time since it's my DD.

the right way to do it is to have a few coats of clear coat on top of the vht.
i dont think there is to much if any gloss in the vht.

i did various lights and have allways cleared them after paint and gave then a good sand and buff and treated it just like regular paint.

i used 1500 then 2000 then a yellow 4in pad on my pc with some megs ultimate compound and its smoth as glass

Yeah, I cleared em when I put the VHT on. I just haven't had a chance to resand em and polish it away.

I have buffed straight VHT with no clear on it using Meguiars Plastix and also have used Meguiars Clear Coat Body Scrub. Both polished it to a mirror finish, but I was using a rotary buffer. If you are doing it by hand, then I am not sure what would work best. Here is the results I got. These aren't completely blacked out like most people do. I mainly used the vht on the black parts to hide the delamination, but I also put a few coats on the rest to give it a little tint to it.

sorry to jack the thread , but have u guys incountered the vht cracking and looking like **** right after u applied it to the taillights right as it begins to dry. How did u guys fix this or is just because the plastic taillight itself is breaking down and the paint is soaking into the cracks in the plastic.

I sanded mine smooth first, then applied the VHT. I didn't use any clear at all. I polish mine about once a month with Mother's plastic polish. No complaints.....

What did you do to prep the lights? Could there have been some old wax on them, or maybe high humidity? I have done a couple of sets of lights. All I did was sand the lights with about 800 grit, wipe them down with rubbing alcohol to clean off any waxes or residues, then spray the vht. The first coat you spray very lightly, just a mist. Then spray the rest of the coats fairly thin, allowing 2-5 minutes between coats. No problems.

it must be the hight humidity because i made sure to take the proper steps in preping them, and cleaning them before starting to spray them.
