Default Just Installed TA seats in My SS

Installed Dark Graphite leather interior from 2002TA which replaced my Graphite Cloth Interior. These seats pretty much bolt in place of the SS seats. I used Harness Part number 12177553. This harness provides power to both seats and also makes the power back lumbar and side lumbars work.

The seats are MUCH more comfortable than my SS seats were and about the only negative I see is that they will give you slightly less head room than the SS seats. Will post PICS later.

Takes at the most a couple of hours to take out old interior and put in new. The hardest part is feeding the damn harness under the carpet and over the console area BUT you can do this by removing the console and just pulling the carpet up enough off the floor to feed the harness through.

The other thing I noticed which also is no big deal is that the graphite color of the TA seats appears to be slighly lighter in color than their SS counterparts.

I just bought a plastic wire loom to protect the harness, took out the console screws, lifted it up enough to slide the harness under the console on top of the carpet...I didn't want to pull the carpet up.

A big improvement over the Camaro seats....1 BAD BIRD is embroidering a 1970 Z28 emblem on the headrests this week to match my fender emblems and my avatar...(which I noticed that a few people are using now!)

Glad the swap went smoothly!

A little off topic:
Were the power seats available in cloth?
TIA

You can get power cloth seats out of a firebird, just not power cloth seats w/lumbar.

When I switched from my 2000 camaro to my 2001 Formula, I noticed a drastic difference in the seating. I was 100% pleased with the new seats.

Looks like the seats are out of a 98 or 99 TA. That would be the reason they are lighter in color. The 2000 and up seats are as dark as the rest of your interior. Looks good though.

Well, if I survive todays round of layoffs, I'm
considering doing this.

Looks very nice!

99TA, that's kind of what I thought as well RE the year model of the seats. The guy swore up and down they were out of a 2001/2002 TA and they had ZERO wear so WTH. I am getting a SS emblem embroidered in RED on the headrests.

The other thing is if you look at even the factory graphite interior, the colors of the various components are not the same anyway. I previously had changed out the factory cloth door panels with leather door panels and the seats do match them although they are lighter in color than say the console. Overall though the look is good and as I said earlier, the increased comfort is outstanding.

T/A seats are great, but are also 2x heavier than a Camaro seat due to the lumbar.

However, I have the best of BOTH worlds . I have a set of WS6 Formula seats, which have all the comfort of a T/A without the heavy lumbar or ugly plastic on the back. I love them, had them for about 2 yrs....

I had the factory install a Firebird around my T/A seats....I'm pleased with how it turned out! You can see pics at:

Everyone enjoy your T/A seats!!! I love mine!
