Default autooptiks headlight upgrade

I saw this website www.autooptiks.com in another post and took a look around. Looks very interesting. The sealed beam conversion kit costs ~$300 for both low and high beams and their true HID kit only runs $450 for the low beams. Price seems right, I was just wondering if anyone has done this and has any opinions on quality, any modification needed, lights melting plastic, etc.

Also possibly, exactly what was purchased.

Thanks,

Russ

I priced it out @ 170.00 for both HI and LOW beams plus shipping. (For a Firebird/Trans Am)

#4703C Low Beam Kit (Pair) 50.00
#H7UH Astra H7 100w UltraWhite (Pair) 35.00
#4701C High Beam Kit (Pair) 50.00
#H7UH Astra H7 100w UltraWhite (Pair) 35.00

I too am curious if anyone has had problems after they have done any of the upgrades, and if anyone has pictures of light output after the upgrade... My interest is high in purchasing this but i want to know what kind of light performance i will get after its all said and done with.

I priced it out using the phillips blue tint bulbs at $50/pair.

2001so1less,

I take it you have a camaro then. Which of the 9005 and 9006 bulbs do you have, and do you have any pictures of the lights at night?

I've got a t/a so I'm wondering also about the quality of the sealed beam conversion kit. I really wish Pontiac would have gone to modular light instead of sealed beams

I purchased the kit yesterday hope to have it in a couple of days..The one question that I have is does it come with an adapter/harness or do we have to splice

Mustang50hater,

Please do keep us informed when you get the kit. I'd gladly pay $100 to convert my headlights to near HID color and brightness.

mustang50hater,

did you have to splice into the factory wiring, run new wiring, etc. Or was there some sort of an adapter? Got any pics by chance ????

Thanks,

Russ

Well I just got of the phone with autooptiks and they say I should get my kit early next week . I asked them about the wiring and they say we have two choices...splice or make a jumper with blade connectors I'm already working on that!

Sorry you guys haven't read the information about autocrap elsewhere. But I doubt you are going to be pleased with your stuff since most of the people before you haven't been. their products are plastic type housings providing only convienence in changing bulbs, nothing more. The reflective qualities are not any better than stock.

Depending on the year of your car, then are much more cost effective alternatives to achieving a better quality of lighting output.

Here are just a few examples I had complied on web page about 2 years ago (yes I intend to update the page at some time). http://www.wraithscar.homestead.com/lighting.html

You can also search the appearance section of CamaroZ28.com, as autocrap as made the rounds and back over the past 3 years among various members of that site. About 80% of who have nothing positive to say.
