Carbon fiber hood...paint it or leave it carbon fiber
With the prospects of a carbon fiber hood coming out I'm wondering if I should get it painted to match my car or leave it with the polished carbon fiber look. My car is a black SS. I just don't want to look ricey.

I say you just hit it with a couple nice shots of clear coat. The best of both worlds - shiny finish AND cool carbon fiber texture <img border="0" title="" alt="[Cool]" src="gr_images/icons/cool.gif" /> <img border="0" title="" alt="[Wink]" src="gr_images/icons/wink.gif" /> <img border="0" title="" alt="[Smile]" src="gr_stretch.gif" /> <img border="0" alt="[Fluffy]" title="" src="graemlins/fluffy.gif" />
That's my 2 pennies,

Don't paint it! Just a little clear and some wetsanding and you will be happy. Here is a pic of a friends car with a carbon fiber cowl hood he made.

Paint it!
...You don't want to get yourself confused with the "Uncle Bens" crowd. <img border="0" alt="[barf]" title="" src="graemlins/gr_barf.gif" />

I assume the hood you'd be getting would be an SS style hood. If so, to keep from looking ricey and still be able to show it's a carbon fiber hood, you could paint all of it except for a bit in front of the scooop. I've seen some SS's with a stripe in front of the scoop, sorry don't have any pics though, but you could leave that part unpainted.

PLEASE paint it. I get sick of seeing too many Civics and Accords with CF hoods.

Re: Carbon fiber hood...paint it or leave it carbon fiber
It would probably look pretty good unpainted on a black car, I would put it on and leave it unpainted for awhile and then if I liked it I would leave it alone, if I decided I didn't I would paint it.
In anycase I don't think it would be "ricey" you guys worry about that too much.
