Exactly how do I aim my headlights?

Default Exactly how do I aim my headlights?

I bought some Sylvania SilverStars this week and had my headlights re-aimed at the dealer. They used the tool that attaches to the headlight and has a level in it. I think they aimed them too high though as I was getting flashed out on the road. It looked like my lowbeams are aimed straight ahead and the highbeams are pointed up. It was foggy so I could see the direction the beam was going. Maybe the nose of the car was angled slightly down when they aimed them.

I know how to actually adjust them, I just need to know how far to adjust them. If I park the car 25 feet away from a wall, what should the pattern look like? Are there some measurements I can use to get it right?

just put the front of the car about 5ft away from a wall and make the beams flush with the front of the car. The headlight is one piece so i dont know what they're saying about adjusting the highbeams apart from the lowbeams <img border="0" title="" alt="[Confused]" src="images/icons/confused.gif" />

Double check the bulbs and make sure you put them back in properly. I put the Silverstars in my SS and when I did the high beams they looked like they were pointing slightly up. I believe the connector on the bulb for the wire harness should be pointing straight down.

When I was trying to adjust them myself, the pattern for the highbeams was higher than the lowbeams. In the fog, the highs were definitely pointed higher than I thought they should be.

I re-aimed the lights last night. Found some instructions on Hids4Less.com. They were a little high. Now I can at least tell a difference when I flip on the brights. People still flash me sometimes though. Oh well. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Big Grin]" src="gr_grin.gif" />

Isnt the right headlight supposed to be a little higher than the left?

All I can say its a bloody pain in the butt to aim the headlights on a Camaro. Somehow my drivers side mounts broke..so I have to buy a entire new unit. Make sure to check your headlights after having any engine work done! Im pretty sure thats how my headlight mounts got busted. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Mad]" src="gr_images/icons/mad.gif" />
