Default Engine Bay clean out ?s

I want to clean out my engine bay. But i have noticed that its discolored and different mystic teal green blotches everywhere. I am planning on a nice wash with water, soap, and scrubber with degreaser.

Im not looking for a show car finish but i want it where it looks nice and not "hey, i dont care about my car" look (lol). Any tips on that?

Also, another question i have is when repainting the engine bay, what did you guys do with the front wiring?? Just put it off to the side and paint around it?

Thanks
Karl

Simple green ftw.. make sure you wash it off really well.. as for the wiring you can wrap it in tin foil and pull it off to the side

Like I said simple green works awesome and quickly for anything.. just make sure you wash it off really well.. that applies to aluminum parts as well.. if you wash it off it will not have a chance to be corrosive.. too many damn scaredy cat people on this board lol.. its just water! Rinse good!

i would listen to djfury iv seen his engine bay in person an its prolly one of the cleanest iv ever seen. i sprayed my engine bay down with water, soaked it in simple green and let it set for about 10 min, rinsed the crap out of it and then took a leaf blower to get it out of all the small cracks. if you want to take it even farther you can get some mothers billet polish and go to work on your abs block, ac condenser and any other aluminum things you can find and it will really sine.

You can use aluminum foil to cover wire loom and other parts you dont want to get overspray on if painting.
