Default Taking Zaino off??

When I purchased my car I spent a lot of $$$ on Zaino products. After applying I was not that happy with the results. Now I wish to used something else. Do I need to remove all of the Zaino with rubbing alcohol? Is this bad for my paint, tires, glass or moldings?

I just got done using Clay Magic on my car and need to get some wax back on her, but do not want to deal with the steps and time required to use Zaino.

TIA-

Dawn usually takes waxes off.
Try that and wash it a couple of times, then clay bar again, then apply your own wax.

What did you not like about the results?

I have always used Meguire's in the past and liked the results. Then I saw all of these great responses to Zaino.

I used the Zfx, Z2 and Z5. The car wash and the gloss enhancer. The first time I used it it took me 2 days to prep my car then get all of the coats on that I wanted. Not to mention the well over $100.00 that I spent on the products. I just feel that for the time and $$$ spent my car should have looked much better.

I have seen other cars that have Zaino on them and they even looked better than mine did. I even ready all the tips on the website and bought the 100% USA towels. Tried to apply again and still did not get the results that I felt I should have got for the amount of time that I had spent.

I tried Dawn already but it only removes wax not Zaino. I am worried that If I put another wax over it that it will smear or look hazy.

-Thanks

Do you have an experienced Zaino user near you that can check out your technique and the finish to see what they can tell you. You'd be only the 4th person I've ever heard of that stopped using Zaino in 5 years and many message boards.

After you washed with Dawn and clayed the surface and got back to the original smooth surface, before starting the actual Zaino process, how did the finish look. Was it badly marred, scratched, swirled???? Zaino will not repair or "hide" a bad finish, IF that was a problem starting out.

How much Zaino polish did you use with each application??? Was it completely dry when you removed it.

With the ZFX additive, when applied properly in VERY thin coats, the area you started with would be dry by the time you finished applying it. You can apply and remove Zaino far easier and faster than any other product I've ever tried. Not sure what you mean by "all the steps". The prep work, including claying, is not a Zaino thing, it should be done regardless of what product you plan to use. Wash, dry, apply, remove, done, not counting if you want to use the enhancer spray. Zaino is actually very easy to use.

But you should use what you like.

And NO, Zaino will NOT harm the finish or anything else in any way, nor will the rubbing alcohol. If you plan to switch back to a wax product, most of them contain mild abrasives and cleaners. The abrasives in a cleaner wax will remove the Zaino.

My car had a good finish on it to begin with, or at least I think that it did. I bought my car used as a 2002 with 4,000 miles on it.

1.) I started out by washing with Dawn.
2.) Clay bar
3.) Z 5 apply
4.) Z 5 remove
5.) Spray Gloss Enhancer
6.) Remove Gloss Enhancer
7.) Repeat steps 3 thru 6
8.) Repeat steps 3 thru 6
9.) Z 2 apply
10.) Z 2 remove
11.) Spray Gloss Enhancer
12.) Remove Gloss Enhancer
13.) Washed car again with Zaino Wash

It just seemed like a lot of steps and I think that I got the same results from washing, clay bar, applying wax, removing wax and spraying on a detailer spray. I have never used wax on my SS only the Zaino.

Maybe I am totally doing it wrong? I even called the Zaino Bros. and spoke with I think Sal(?) and from what he said I did it the right way.

5.) Spray Gloss Enhancer
6.) Remove Gloss Enhancer

How exactly were you doing this. Were you buffing it out on a small section as soon as you sprayed it??

How much polish do you use for each application??

It sounds like you need another Zaino user to check out your technique and see what is going on.

Try to cut out a couple of those steps. I never wash mine as the last thing. I just wash,dry,z-5,z-6 and done. I done all the other stuff the first time but after that I just wash and polish basically. The z-6 should be sprayed on then wiped off immediately. I do very small areas at a time (2'x2' area probably) because it will haze over on you if you let it dry. I think maybe that's what might be happening to you. When you get done your car should look like a mirror for the most part.

Zaino is the best by far, I use it, I get force other people to use it...

Its the best..

I usually clay my car 2 times a year, as soon as the warm weather rolls around again, I plan on spending a good amount of time w/the car (detailing)

I use dawn to get all the old crap off, then either use Z7 w/water mixed into a spray bottle for lube w/the clay or just the spray wax, either one works..

Then I will do ZFX, (Z2) or (Z5)

You should wash the car with Dawn again after you clay the car; much better results will come from adding that one step. Also, if this was the first time you used Zaino, you should put Z1 on as the first coat very *very* lightly.

It does take some practice to get the finish you want, and this is mainly learning to let everything dry completely (not an issue with ZFX).

Just my opinion...

Ok then Kevin next time you decide to apply Zaino to your car call me so that I can watch. I now live off 288 and Hwy 6 just outside of Pearland.

Do any of the local distributors do any sort of demonstrations? Or make house calls?

Thanks,
-Tracey

I've done it for ALOT of folks. I've had 4 cars in my driveway one Saturday last year, helping folks get started.

There are ALOT of Zaino users in Texas. Maybe you could e-mail Sal and ask for the e-mail address of a few folks who may live near you. Most Zaino users are glad to help out Zaino newbies.

I have had OK results with zaino, but for dark cars I prefer zymol. Has anyone used zymol (the professional not the retail line)? When applied properly (using the HD Cleanse before hand, followed by the wax, then buffed with water mist (from an old windex sprayer), I have experienced the best shine on my black car. By no means do I think Zaino is lousy (it isn't) and Zymol is just as expensive, but I've had the better results with Zymol. I have attached a link to my 12-year old Buick after a zymol application. The paint is really that smooth in person and up close.

BTW I'm a new member, my name is Tom, and when I graduate from college this May I plan on purchasing my first F-Body (either a T/A WS-6, Firehawk, or SS). Its nice to be here.

Been using the Zymol for years now and I love it as well Tom. BTW hope you get your F-Body soon. Haven't tried the Zaino yet, waiting for the Zymol to run out.

A post on ls1.com about some amazing results from stacking meguires on top of zaino, Includes a closeup pic of a black car but you couldn't even tell the color, looked like a mirror.

The time will come though....

Just go and buy some Mothers products. After washing the car, clay it, apply and remove the cleaner wax (step 1) apply and remove the sealer and glaze (step 2) I suggest 2 coats. Then apply and remove the carnuba wax (step 3) Use an orbital polisher and foam pads to apply and use Hanes undershirts to rmove the product. The when you have removed the last coat of wax using the
orbital and a new wool pad go over the entire car, this will really make the paint pop. Always wash all foam pads after every use, and just shake out the wool pad and keep it dry and just yse it for the final step.

I have a black 98 Z28 and the paint looks better than the day I got the car, I have pics on my website.

Good luck. <img border="0" alt="[burn out]" title="" src="graemlins/gr_burnout.gif" />

Well it's like I said it may not be the product, it may be the installer/applier(if that is a word).

I am just going to have to find someone else around here that knows exactly how to use it and watch them.

thanks,
Tracey

I was very impressed by it, but Zymol impressed me more. Not bashing Zaino though, it is amazing stuff that I have nothing bad to say about.
