Default correct backspacing / offset???

I'm about to get some 17x11 wheels for the rear (with 315/35 Nittos), but I'm not sure what offset or backspacing to use.

I've noticed several places where people mention using a 50mm offset with the ZR1 wheels...is that correct for *any* 17x11 wheel?

If I'm ordering a custom-made set of rims, is the offset and lug pattern enough information for them to be made?

Also, since I have your attention, is 56mm the right offset for 17x9.5 wheels on the front?

thanks in advance,
Shane

Just bought a set of 17x11's for my 2001 TA and it does have 7 3/4 offset. I have the 315 Nittos on them. No rubbing so far
