Buying a Ram Air Hood
I've finally saved up enough money [high school student here] to buy myself a ram air hood. i've heard some things about certain company's hoods not fitting right and what not...where is the best place to get one from? sun coast creations? another thing....since im buying the box to make it functional, does that replace the current air box in my car now as well as the lid; or will i still have to buy an aftermarket lid also? just trying to get a little info, thx in advance guys.

I like the Advanced Plastics Hood. www.ramairhood.com I think. Molded exactly after the GM hood so the stock parts fit it. If you have any questions drop me an email and I'll send you a pic. cvandegrift@cinci.rr.com

Re: Buying a Ram Air Hood
I got mine from SLP. Not as cheap as the others listed but DEFINATELY great quality. Plus it's a Firehawk-style instead of the ever-so-common WS6 hood. Another thing, I recommend NOT getting a used hood unless you're still gonna bring it to a body shop. Someone will still need to line up the fenders and all that for the simple fact that all cars are different and just becuase it fit ONE car doesnt mean it will fit yours. Just food for thought.

How did you get a Firehawk-style hood from SLP? Do you mean the H.O. hood? If so, its more of a hybrid between the WS6 and Firehawk hoods.

Check his sig. He doesn't have a Firehawk hood, he has the H.O. hood. I think what he meant by "Firehawk-style," is the fact that the H.O. only has 2 intake openings like the Firehawk, rather than 4 like the WS6.

Yeah, it's the SLP H.O. hood. As far as the whole 'Raptor' thing, it's simply a nick-name for the fact the meaning of raptor is 'bird of prey', and since TA's are 'Birds, and raptors are the "top bird", it only makes sense to call it Raptor. You don't have a problem with that do you?

Wow this thread is over 2.5 years old.
Both questions could be answered through a search....although thats probably what brought up this thread.
Also, VFN is a sponsor listed on the right.
Quick Answer....
Ram Air Hood Options:
* Stock Firehawk Hood (would require trimming the nose of the car where it meets the hood)
* Stock WS6 Hood
* SLP HO Hood
* Suncoast Creations Ram Air Hood (WS6 Style)
* Suncoast Creations Raptor Hood (Firehawk Style)
* VFN WS6 Ram Air Hood (Available with 4" raised cowl)
* VFN WS9 Superhawk Hood
* Other options on eBay
* Other options from other manufacturers
