Okay, I'm going for the appearance aspect of my car.
How much would it cost to
- Paint (plus fix those nasty rear bumper cracks) it black
- New T/A style hood
- Silver "FIREBIRD" letters and emblem in the front
My brother is already selling me his black rims with chrome lip for 200 bucks.

i thought most people made it clear in the other thread.
1. Unless the car has some sort of sentimental value, or you know someone who can paint, paint is going to cost more than the car is worth, and you will NOT recoup that investment if you sell it.
2. WS6 hood (LT1 or LS1) is going to be atleast $500 not including paint
3. Emblems will be cheap, but i would just take off what you have and go for the clean look

You can often times find LT1 trans ams or formulas for 3,000-5,000 that are mechanically sound with good bodies on them. Find one of these, sale your V6 for 1k (if you can) and you will be a huge step up from what you have now.
Check the classifieds or ebay,
just an example of something I would be looking for if I was wanting an LT1 TA...

Once you go V8 you will never want another V6 again.

When I was just out of highschool I started dating this girl that drove an 85 MR2. The paint on that thing was so oxidized it wasnt even red anymore. I took some $3.00 turtle wax rubbing compound to it, spent a whole afternoon waxing and buffing until that thing was shiny as hell. I've been married to her 10 years now, lol.
I would do that to your bird if I were you, it would at least get you started on it. You may not have alot of money to spend, but it can be cleaned. I'm always more impressed by an older clean stock vehicle than a supped up rust bucket. Once you start spending alot of time with your car, ideas will come on how to make it better without spending a ton of dough on it.

I would keep it, clean it up, have fun, let it be a start as far as stuff like detailing that way if you get a V8 car, you'll know what to do. Use the car to get around with while your in college cause if a V6 Mustang comes stepin, you'll kill him and if the motor is strong, you'll keep up with some V8 Stangs, ask me how I know, lol. The V6's are easy to work on for the most part unitill you try changing the plugs. But all in all, if you mess with this car and learn from it, it will do you better in the long run so it won't hurt you. Hell, if you can, get so family/friends to help you paint the car yourself, again, another learning experience cause one can never learn to much.

My dad said it took him almost a whole day trying to figure out how to change the plugs.
He's really good with mechanical stuff, but he's no grease monkey as in able to change gear ratio, etc. He's never driven manual in his life.
How do I keep the car clean? Recommend me some products. Washing the car doesn't help.

Who wants a v6? I mean really, again not trying to be a dick but not to many people are gonna wanna buy a sports car with no sport engine lol, your best bet is take it to maco,I just hate seeing people drop money into something that is just a waste, for what you can get a ls1 car for these days its dumb to waste money on a v6 bird, just have the bumper touched up ,buff it out and be done.even if you put 5 grand into it ,you will be luckey to get 2200 for it if you ever sell it
