The only "steel" under the roof panel is structural in the shape of a T Top car . . . On a hard top there are thin strips added for the SMC to bond to.

Confused isn't the reason hardtop cars are favored over t top cars cause of structural rigidity?
Well then if their only small steel strips just to hold the plastic roofpanel, why would anyone want a hardtop for structural stifness and handling if the roof is basicaly just plastic meaning if you rolled the car youd be crushed just as if you were in a convertible right?????

No, they are pretty good in a rollover actually, there is a sturdy frame around the windshield & also up over the back area of the sail panel.

IMHO, a hardtop car is no stiffer than a t-top car . . the structures are 100% identical.

Look at the head liner of a hard top . . it has the shape of a T Top.

A convertible is totally different.
