Just got my VFN WSQ Hood today!!!
Just wanted to post a thread here since I just recieved the VFN WSQ hood and it looks amazing! I'll post some pictures up!
From what Armando from VFN said, I was the first person to recieve it other than QCon himself (the designer of the hood). So I am very happy to be the first person to show off my hood!
I will not have it on the car and painted for quite a while however b/c I'm in the middle of a very time consuming build, and it will be a while before I am ready for that stage of the build!
Anyways, here goes a few pictures!

^^^ LOL, I don't have my car in my possesion at this time... Otherwise, Trust me I would've had it mounted today...
*It's getting a cage installed, so IDK when I'll get it back.
As far as rubbing an SLP Lid, I'm not really sure on that either and would not be the guy to ask honestly since I have the K&N FIPK CAI on my car. Sorry man!
If no-one else chimes in by the time my car is back together, (late summer) I'll be sure to try a SLP lid on the car and see if it rubs... I know enough people who have SLP lids, That it won't be a problem. However, my engine is far from done, so it's not gonna be anytime soon tho!!!

Congrats. If you are person #2 then that hood you have must be the very first production version. Interesting to see how it fits. I've seen QCon's in person and he pointed out the things he noticed with it, but then again it was also not the production version (if I remember correctly?).

Thanks guys!
Yeah I was pretty anxious to get the hood as well. I just wish my car was back now. lol
And yeah this is the 1st production hood to be released so far. QCon got the first hood b/c he was the designer, and also to help with test fitting! (At least to my knowledge) But hell thats only fair!
I'll tell you tho, it's worth the wait... I Absolutely love the hood.
** The fitment issues, and etc. I was told there is some extra material on the outer edges to allow for block sanding to help with allignment issues. He said with the fiberglass hoods they always see problems with fitment, but they took the time to fix the problematic areas by adding more material there and with minimal block sanding to the hood in the outer areas and sometimes slight adjusting of the headlights, you can actually get these hoods to fit Great! theres also tricks to it, like drilling some holes certain places, elongating some holes, and adding bolts to the front bumper retainers (originally plastic) to help hold the bumper up and this will also allow you to slightly move the bumper to where it lines up with the hood evenly! theres alot to it, but if you have basic mechanic skills, I'm sure it shouldn't be a problem really!
I was contacted on Monday and they went thru the steps of getting the hood on the car, lining it up, how to adjust everything properly, and to also let me know it was the 1st hood being shipped out, and that I would have it by Friday... Well I had it 2 days later.
Thanks VFN!!! You guys rock, and customer service there is awesome!

Called VFN yesterday and mine should be shipping the first part of next week! Hopefully mine goes off to paint around the same time yours is coming back 007!
I cant wait to see what everyone does with theirs over the next couple of months.
I'm still talking over striping with my paint guy... those heat extractors will make for an interesting challenge in coming up with something that looks great with it.

That's awesome man... I'm glad they are finally all shipping out. I can't tell you how excited I was to get the hood. This is my first LS1 Trans Am, and I have always wanted a 98-02 WS6, but never could afford one. Then I got this car, (99 TA) sold off my 98 Z, and said theres no way I was gonna own a TA without a bada$$ ram air hood of some kind. lol Just so happened the new WSQ hood was released when I still had the $.
I cant wait to see what everyone does with theirs over the next couple of months.
I'm soooo torn on what I wanna do with mine too. I really have "NO CLUE" what route I wanna go with mine.
The car is Black, and I was thinking of going with Flat Black stripes from the nostrils to the windshield on top of the hood. I think it would really show the heat extractors alot more than if it were all black. But like I said, IDK. I'm torn. hahaha

I also thought about doing some airbrushing on the hood, something that has to do with the "twin towers" and paying respect to the people lost, and to the families of people lost that day. ***MY reason behind that is b/c I bought my car on 9-11-2010.
IDK.... We'll see what happens. I'll be sure to post pics when it finally goes to paint!

And I have around 825 in the hood, the new hood shocks, and the shipping. The hood I bought in a group purchase so it was cheaper than what their retail is going to be.
I think they will be selling for $695 I believe. But if you keep an eye out for the VFN group purchases you'll save some money! They have a few of them each year! Just keep an eye open in the classifieds section under "group purchases/sponsor sales" sections.

I recieved my hood Wednesday as well. Ill have pics by the end of next week. I love this hood. It took the best of the firehawk and ws6 and highlighted on them. I was surprised on how big the nostrils was.....agressive as hell. It also looks like the humps are raised a lil bigger than the ws6, looking from behind the hood as if I was driving. I cant say it enough I LOVE THIS HOOD!!

Congrats on recieving the hood man... It does look way more aggressive in person. The nostrils and hood scoops are larger than the WS6's for sure. It looks soooo aggressive.
1 thing I didn't really even think about was the heat extractors are open on mine (thats how I wanted them to be) But how do they work with it being all sealed up underneath?? Hmm, I guess I'll have to open it up if I want them to function correctly. But I'll prolly just leave it be so that no water gets inside the engine bay.
At least it will look like it's functional.
I'm very impressed with it myself!
You should post some pics on your car when you get the time.
***Feel free to post here if you want to, Or anybody else for that matter! I don't mind.

Its in the body shop gettin a new fender put on along with the hood and my door fixed. (hit and run wreck) Bare with the pics becuase the whole car will be getting painted a dif color towards the end of the month

My pics of the rough install are posted in the VFN group buy forum...won't take much work at all...and as far as the heat extractors you should see four holes on the underside of the hood about 1" diameter, and all four heat extractors are routed together so I'm sure you could open those holes larger if you wanted and get more heat out, I have been meaning to call em and make sure. I'd rather have two larger ovals under there then 4 little round holes.

^^ Yeah if you look at the first picture I posted, there are 2 holes down at the bottom of the picture, Those are for the air to escape, But I'm like you... I think cutting that open a little and making it oval would be better. I could always put some wire mesh behind there too to make it look a little better when the hood is open... We'll see.
I was a little skeptic about the water getting in there as well, but I don't really think it's gonna be an issue bc under the hood is all sealed. Even the front nostril area is seperate from the heat extractor area. So I don't think there'd be any way water could get into the K&N Air Filter I have up there.
I have the K&N FIPK CAI, and it's all open in front.
I do however think the air will really help the car at higher speeds too. "RAM AIR" FTMFW.
I can't freakin wait!!!
