Default Correct interior paint--98 Trans Am

I need to touch up a couple spots in the interior. My code on the door is 14I and 142. When i decode the VIN 14I comes up as LT GRAY and 142 leather interior with LT GRAY trim. Now I thought the interior was graphite, not light gray, but that is what the VIN indicates. When I look at SEM interior paints, there are 4 codes for GM 14...LT GRAY, MED GRAY, DK GRAY, and VERY DK GRAY:

So the VIN says LT GRAY, but that looks awfully light to me. VERY DK GRAY looks closer to my door panels than LT GRAY. So which of those 4 GM 14 codes is a 98 f-body?

Lol, I feel your pain man. I have a gauge piller pod I want to stick on but can't figure out what color my 98 is. I think it is charcoal? Like a dark grey. I'll be keeping an eye on this thread.

Did you even look at the link from SEM? They have MED DK PEWTER and MED DK PEWTER II, neither of which are one of the 14 codes on my door. So what SEM paint corresponds with a 98 14I code? It seems really no one knows...lots of guesses, pewter, graphite, etc. none of which are documented.

Actually, no I didn't look at the link at first. I'm pretty sure 'Graphite' is the color you want.

I have the paperwork from when my car was ordered new. Pretty sure the color was called graphite by GM. They also had a light grey color. Do you have a pic of the inside of your car?

It's weird that they call it graphite when the VIN code indicates LT GRAY trim for 14I. Anyway, I do have a pic...here it is. I need to touch up a spot on the door panel...not the darker area where the handle/armrest is, but the outer hard plastic part that is lighter gray. Thanks!

After looking at my own pics with a bright flash, it looks like there are about 3 different grays in there! What the hell were they doing?

Lol, welcome to GM. I think you have the same color as me. Hard to tell with the flash but almost positive that is graphite. Let some other people check in.

Kinda looks to me that the dash, armrest, and center console are graphite, and the plastic trims, seats, wheel, and rest of the door panels are the lighter gray. It's hard to tell what SEM code will match what.

Do yourself a favor. Pick a color . Pull it all of and paint it one shade . I did mine in all black and love it . Well I love what I have gotten done so far

I called SEM and they told me all of those "14" colors are not available anymore anyway. I found a local SEM dealer and they suggested I bring the car in and try to match the interior with a color chip card of available colors to try to find the closest match. That's the best we can do if want to stick to the stock colors. Otherwise it makes sense to repaint the entire interior, but I am not ready for that yet.
