Default Electronics Noob - Interior LED Strips

So I've been thinking about getting some LEDs for the floorboard area (above your feet) and under the armrests on the doors. I figure the doors will be the hard part, but my stepmom got a kia sorento and I really like the door lighting on those. I'd want the lights to come on when I turn on the headlights, and come on with the regular interior lights as well, if possible.

I've done nothing more than wire a stereo and swap out steering wheel buttons as far as that goes. I searched but couldn't really find a write-up or anything on what I was looking for. If it's out there I'd be happy with a link, or any help/explanations you can give me.

Thanks in advance .

for the foot well ones, you have to take off the passenger plastic and drill holes so the strip fits in. then locate the all white wire coming from the BCM (its about the size of a book and its located also from there) that will be your negative wire. for the positive wire, your just going to run a wire with a spade into the batt in the fuse box inside on the drivers side. just plug it in and your good to go

^ Sounds pretty clear to me! Heres a link to how a member did it with pics which is whats described above but I think when you wire it to the BCM it only comes on whenever say your doors open or you turn on the interior lights by rolling the dash and interior light dimmer all the way up. So basically whenever your interior dome light is on those will light up too.

I had this done with my old Camaro, but they were neon blue lights that I put above the floorboard, a bit ghetto if you ask me lol that's why it didn't last that long, but I'm sure the LED would look alot better.

I'm going white or red. I don't want it to be too bright though.

So the way you describe it, bandit, they come on with both headlights and interior lights? That's what I'm trying to do here.

Red could be different, but I think could give a cool edge to your interior!

I'm leaning towards red because all the gauge/hvac/stereo lights are red and it will flow better.

I ran my power lead off of the rear dome light, down the left sail panel, underneath the rocker panel, and under the driver seat, after which it splits off for both the driver and passenger side. I went with UV LEDs.
