Default T/A LED third brake light

This is what my friend and I did today. Random parts from radioshack. Less than 20 bucks. I think it turned out pretty well.

Looks better than I thought it would, I didn't think I would like it but it looks pretty nice actually. Great work!

Thanks for the compliments guys I'll see what I can do as far as a write up. It was a lot of guessing and trying things ha ha, but I'll see what I can do. From what I understand the company that used to make these is out of business now. This could be a good alternative as long as you have basic electrical comprehension skills and are good with a soldering iron lol.

I know they're making them again. This is what I did earlier this spring before they started making them again. It's a lot cheaper and still looks pretty good in my opinion. I'm coming up on 4 months of it on the car and it's still working lol.

Not currently. I can take some over the next few days and post them up. School just started back up again so I'm busy with all that stuff.

Mine is kind of tinted. I have maybe 2 or 3 coats of VHT on mine.

I believe mine is smoked. Got it second hand though and haven't seen a comparison of the two different ones.

Guys, If you grab a motorcycle parts catalog like J&P, you will see all kinds of LED strips that we use to customize bikes.
Some are even flexible.
For the 3rd brake light, these are a ten minute operation / installation.

Mine is not a strip. It's an actual board with the led's and resistors and everything soldered on. I steered away from the strip because I have heard of durability issues.

This is what it is. My friend and I make all kinds of things this way. We did my sidemarkers the same way the other day. We just retrofit them into the stock housings and seal them up then make connectors. They are all plug and play so no need for butchering up wires or anything.

You can buy leds on pcbs also.
Flex strips are very reliable as they have a much tougher environment with atmosphere and vibration than a car.

I've seen these lights first-hand. Metalmilitia makes a high-quality product. I want some on my car when I get some money to blow.
