Default How do you tint your t tops. Pics please

It's getting warm. And I've done tint before. But I don't necessarily know or which side to really do it to top or bottom? Anyone have any pictures of theirs done up close?

I don't have any shades. And I like to still be able to have some light come through.

I've heard you shouldn't tint them because the trapped heat can make them crack, anybody else hear of this happening? Makes no sense to me but heard it from different sources.

Hmm. We tint all other glass, what would make t-tops different?

I've heard this as well. and I don't quite understand it either, but yet I haven't ever looked into it. I will just use the shades if I get tired of the sun beating in.

I plan on getting my windows tinted soon and was wondering what tint would you guys find ideal % for T-tops? 35%? 28%? 20%? I don't think I should go any darker than 20% on the top and don't really think I should even go that dark I was thinking about something in between 25-30 as the legal limit here in NC is 28%, although I think it might be 30% or higher. Sorry for the hijack

ive heard this also an it was some reason like the heat gets trapped and could cause them to crack which leads to an explosion its hit the wrong way. arent they tinted from the factory? mine seems pretty dark

I plan to put a 5% on mine today after work. I know they're tinted from factory but when I leave the car out during the day even after I put the windshield shade in and it's hot and to prevent anymore sundamage on the leather than I can...lol.

there isn't a legal limit on t tops shades. If cops were supposed to see through your roof, then everyone would have glass tops..

i would recommend 20 or less, or get shades

I too heard this when i had mine done in 2005 in phoenix AZ. It's been 6 years, they haven't cracked, and i had it parked outside a few times in 110+ degree heat.

How and why does it start to crack, even if it isn't cracked at all to begin with or show signs or cracking? Where do they crack?
