Default dash pad compatibility

A friend bought a replacement dash pad for his 1994 T/A, and accidentally bought a new one for a LS1 T/A. He gave me the part number from the shipping box but I've misplaced it. It's been in storage for a year or so. He's offering it to me for a good price.

Will that be the exact same part as if I buy a OEM pad from the dealer for my '98 Z28? If yes am I taking a risk with it being in storage for that period of time and I should just pay $80 extra for a new one from the dealer? If not, what are the differences?

All of the '98-up f-cars use the same dash pad. You shouldn't have any problems with fitment. I wouldn't worry about it sitting in storage for a year as long as there is no damage to it from someone dropping something on the box. When you buy from GM, you never know how long it was sitting on their shelf...

I found multiple other threads on other forums which indicate:

F-body dashboard large top panel (IP upper trim panel) (97-99) = 10422746
F-body dashboard large top panel (IP upper trim panel) (00-02) = 10410583

The slip of paper my friend gave me says his part is the -0583, the dealer says I need -2746. What are the physical part/installation differences?

color changed in 00 , so the gray or ebony is different in 98-99 than the 00-02

93-96 T/A uses a unique dash pad as does 93-96 Camaro

I believe all 97-02 are interchangeable between camaro and firebird except they are different colors depending on the year.

Maybe I'm missing something here. If it's your friend selling you this part, would don't you just simply look at it first?

He did bring it to the car, but the car was on a lift and he just tried to place it on top of the current dash to see if it was the same shape. We didn't try removing the pillars because it was on the lift and the lighting while on the lift wasn't ideal to compare colors. If the color is wrong then I'll just spend the extra money on the correct part.
