Default Carbon Fiber Hood???

Done plenty of searching and there are VERY few pics of carbon fiber hoods on 4th gen camaros. I think a cf ss hood would look badass on a black camaro, but I've come up empty handed in my search. Does anyone have any??

Ask and you shall recieve!!

DG Motorsports Carbon fiber ZL1 Big block hood
Race/ show quality pure carbon fiber, not carbon fiber skin over fiber glass frame like some companies sell.

Yes its expensive but u will not find a better quality, better fitting cf hood. It was actually $200 more when i bought it in 2002.

you get what you pay for man.. have you ever seen the cheapie CF hoods??? fiberglass frames with defective CF patterns and crappy clearcoats...? if its going unpainted, go with a real hood, not some crap put together by a 12yr old...

What about VIS hoods? I know they are very popular for imports. How does their quality compare to the DG motorsports?

My friend has VIS CF hood on his cobra. They look good but not pure carbon fiber. there are many different "grades/ weaves" of carbon fiber. The VIS hood is still pretty heavy compared to DGM cf hoods due to fiberglass framing and made only for looks more than looks/functionality. Not sure how long they will last since my friend only had it for 1 year. I had the DG motorsports hood since 2002.

All in all VIS hoods are probably the best cheaper alternative to DG motorsports. the reason why i dont like them is because they offer 2 hoods for camaros... a stock SS scoop cf hood ( boring, looks stock, DG ZL1 hoods scoop is 2x higher and 2x wider) , and a fugly ricer looking hood.

DG is for a real enthusiast with function as his primary goal. VIS is for a ricer who wants to look like he knows what he is doing. I had a 97TSi years ago and it came with a VIS hood, the pattern wasnt uniform and the underside was rough fiberglass. the clear was hazy and golden brown colored, like it was extremely weathered.. It was lighter than a stock hood but not by much. I just painted it to match the rest of the car...Again, you get what you pay for..

Basically it seems that there is a big gap between the cf hoods in the $500-$700 range and the DG. While VIS hoods may be better than others they cannot compare to the quality of a DG.

Anyone have any pics of a Camaro that has just the carbon fiber roof and hood done? I'm thinking about doing that.

Thanks! - Jim
