Default dremel my hood scoop?

ok the novelty of my new ss hood has worn off, now I need to do something about the mailbox-slot opening it came with. (see sig/site pics) I know, I should have had the shop open it up for me before they painted it, but it's too late for that now. I have the grille-screen to put in but I need to open it up about a 1/4 inch all around to fit it. I was thinking of gently using a dremel or sandpaper to do this - has anyone ever tried this or had a similar situation? I'd hate to have the fiberglass crack as soon as the drem hits the surface......

help!

Default

I have never read of someone increasing the opening where the grille goes in the scoop. However, someone onced asked on the SLP board about opening up the three slots near the lid. (basically making them one large opening) JeffY the SLP engineer said doing that would compromise the structural integrity of the hood. He still posts in the Back Porch forum on chirpthird.com and may have an answer for you.
