Question Fiberglass Vs. Metal

I am wanting a SS hood for my Z, but I cant decide if I should get fiberglass or metal. I know there is a huge price difference between the two, but that aside, which should I get? I have heard of problems with fiberglass hoods , but I have also heard good things. I was hoping some of you could shed some light on the subject to help me decide and maybe put my mind at ease about buying fiberglass.
Thanks.

As far as I know there are no SS hoods in metal. They are fiberglass or "composite". Either way fiberglass is the way to go for weight savings.

Are GM's metal? And also, where should I get one, I don't like the VFN because the scoop is to tall.

The factory GM SS hood is not metal, it's composite.

Whats the difference between composite and fiberglass, is it the same material? (new to this field, don't know the termonology!)

Composite can be fiberglass (laid up), carbon fiber layup,
fiberglass reinforced plastic (molded), (...), etc. while the
specific "fiberglass" refers only to the laid-up, epoxy or
polystyrene matrix construction. The front quarters and
doors appear to be molded composite, I have seen the OEM
SS hood said to be carbon fiber (but never seen below
the paint myself).

im fairly sure the factory SS hood, is more of a SMC type of composite, not a laid up piece of carbon fiber.

Fiberglass nevers rusts...that should make your decision right there!

Neither does molded composite, and it weighs less than fiberglass. and its more durable.

The reason I ask is because the guy at the body shop told me that I wouldn't be happy with a fiberglass hood for several reasons...but I feel that if OEM is fiberglass why not get an aftermarket and screw that guy!
