Default re-done shifter plate

I didnt get any before pics but Im sure some ppl out there have worn shifter plates. Mine looked like hell and it was driving me nuts. What I did was. I took it apart, cleaned and prepped the plastic, sanded the the shifter indicator with 2500 grit and polished it back. gave the plastic a nice fresh coat of paint. And bam new looking shifter plate

Thanks, I only posted to show what you can do with the parts you already have. These kind of parts are getting harder and harder to find in great condition used. Being that the oldest 4th gen is 18 most cars are gonna have typical wear. So why not repair then replace. Ive been doing little things here and there with the car this year, headliner, visors. I try to reconditon a area per week.

If its not already in good condition, clean itup. Im sure somebody would pay fair market value for it.

Mine was looking like crap too.. I cleaned it up and put an old T56 boot on it after I filed down the shifter and made the boot fit over the handle a bit.... Looks like factory...

Nice. I like the idea of cutting down the shifter a 1/2in. Ive been trying to find a T handle for my car. Never liked the puch button style on the camaros.

i just used a copper pipe cutter and a hack saw to notch the clip groove for the handle... I love it and its one of those things that looks like it came that way from GM.... Those are the kinds of mods I like...

^ it is man... way easier than I thought it would be... Its worth it but no one will notice unless they know our cars.... I posted a pic of it on my FB after I finished and no one understood why I took a picture of my console...lol It looks like it belongs there.... there is a write up someone else did but they cut the shifter down differently.... use the little 1/2" pipe cutter, it gives a perfect cut and you dont risk cutting the little plastic ***** lookin thingy inside it...

edit: I can probably get you a T handle one like I have for cheap.... maybe even free. A buddy of mine parts them out ant Im always getting parts from him.
