Default Squeaky Door

My drivers door has started to squeak when opened and closed. What lube should be used to get rid of this?

The dealer uses white lithium grease in spray form. You can get it at an auto parts store for just a few dollars (its usually in a white or green spray can). You can use that or something thicker and hand apply it. I like the ease of the spray stuff, hence that is what I use.

I agree. WD40 actually stands for Water Displacement perfected on the 40th try. It is not a long lasting lube but works great in a pinch. Great for frozen Locks!

The company that owns WD40 Brand also owns 3-IN-ONE and has a brand of White Lithium Grease in a can as someone mentioned in an earlier post.

3-IN-ONE Professional White Lithium Grease has a variety of uses and is better suited than WD40 for use on the following :

Automotive: Hinges, locks, latches, seat tracks, strike plates, cables, distributor cams, battery terminals, radio antennas, windshield wiper mechanisms, bolts, bearings and more.

Remone the door panel and protective plastic. Support the door well, and remove the hinges. Machine wash warm, tumble dry low...

Just kidding. Lithium grease works fine.

I have a small 1/2 oz. container of CRP Molybdenum grease from a radio control car I owned about ten years ago. The stuff works great on my hinges.
