Question Tail Light Fillers Panels

Fellas, any idea how come the '02 CETA (silver logo) filler panel is about $40 cheaper than the regular '00-'02 filler panel?

PN10312725: '02 CETA/ Silver Logo Filler Panel, $102.15

PN5977286: '00-'02 Standard Trans Am Panel, $144.64

These are gmpartsdirect prices. Thanks.

The standard is probably more popular, so more people need it therefore higher price.

Just my guess, lol.

That's a realistic way of looking at it, the almighty dollar. You would think logically that the Collector's Edition version would cost more.

The main reason I was asking was because I was wondering if the CETA panel was of lesser quality or if there was a valid reason why it was cheaper. I'm of the "you get what you pay pay for" school of thinking. If it's not lesser quality I'd be crazy to spend the extra 40 bucks especially since I have a silver car, and I think the silver logo would look great. Thanks.

If so, maybe I should have kept my mouth shut.

I was wondering though, has anyone tried clearcoating their panel to protect the logo, with a spray can of clearcoat? Thanks.

Spray can, no.
Spray gun at the auto body shop, yes.

But I would imagine you could simply use a spray can.
You should be able to wet-sand & polish to a nice high gloss again afterwards.

Thanks for the info. Good job on the panels in the pics. Exactly what I was looking for. Thanks.

In today's economy I'd give up the 5 hp to save 40 bucks haha. But don't you think a silver logo would look better than red on a silver car?

FWIW, I think I'm going to go with the standard red logo filler panel. I mean my car isn't a CETA so why would I put on a CETA filler panel? Even though I do have Corvette front brakes, and obviously my car isn't a Corvette, I think that brakes are different because they're a safety/ performance upgrade.

I put the silver on mine (custom done, bought from another member who had it done by another member) because I'm doing a chrome on black thing. Red looks good with the taillights, and I'd probably keep it red on that car.

That said....
I have a red panel for sale.

I did a Google search for "Trans Am filler panels", looking for the best price, and I stumbled across a YouTube video of someone who installed decals on his blank panel. He said he got them at the WS6 store, so I went there and ended up buying two sets of red style 5 "Trans Am" letters and style A screaming chicken. These looked most like the stock decal. Cost me $33.98 for two sets.

Here's the video I found:

I still might be interested in your panel if it's new or like new and the price is right. Thanks.
