Default C5 Engine cover?

Found a C5 engine cover/coil covers, whatever they are, on CL. What would have to be done to put em on my camaro? I'm sure there would be some cutting here bending there to get em to fit. Would they fit with a shock tower brace?

Probably would fit with a shock tower brace, I've seen it numerous times before, but that may depend on the brace itself. They're typically called fuel rail covers, just fyi. You do need to make some cuts to get them to fit just right, but I believe there's even a difference depending on the year C5 it they came off of. If I'm not mistaken you can buy some new from GM for around $60 or so (don't quote me on that, there's a thread about it somewhere) so I wouldn't pay much more than that for them.

they clip on to your fuel rails and clip into some of the bolts of the coils.

search for gmpartshouse. they are the ones that have the rails for about 70.
you want them for a 97-99 vette.

They will fit the stock rails. There are always a few post on here showing where to cut. Everyone has a little different idea on how much to cut. You can also just lay them on the engine and start trimming. A dremel works get. I'm not sure exactly which covers to get. But certain years make an eaiser starting point. I have had mine for years and they have been through a couple changes. They do fit under most STB. I know they fit under the BMR and Hotckis bar.

125 is too much, check out this website from GM, the dealerships will match this price.

scrool down and you will see them towards the bottom

Double check on that corvette, there's technically no 2005 Z06. And if it is from a C6 corvette (2005 and up) the cover's won't fit because the C5s are LS2/LS3/LS7 motors.

You'll need one from a C5 corvette (97 - 04) because they're LS1/LS6 motors, which is what we have.

Bryan/Afterthoughts did mine years ago. You can do it yourself a lot cheaper. I don't have any paint hook up's so I decided to have him do them.

You should go check out all the Fuel Rail Cover pics on this site too;

Yea, you can do it yourself if you have the tools & resources.
Use these if you go into it yourself.
12559261 - '97-'98 LH Fuel Rail Cover (Black With Red "Corvette" Lettering)
12556455 - '97-'98 RH Fuel Rail Cover (Black With Red "Corvette" Lettering)

But there's alot of people who simply elect to have someone with some experience do it too.
<-- Experienced, ...,

I might just buy some pre-done ones... Mainly because I can just see myself hacking up a brand new set, screwing them up, getting frustrated, and buying a $220 set.. Plastic and I have never gotten along..

Did the Oil cap, dipstick etc. fit right or did you have to move some stuff around?

i think im just gonna go with the pre cut ones from after thoughts.. just seems like the best deal and less work and you know they will fit just fine. and after shipping and all that the price will be very close to the same..
