Heat gun peel away what you can, rubber eraser wheel on a drill to remove the rest, buff.

One of these work great. Use it with a drill to take decals right off. http://www.amazon.com/AES-Industries...7776169&sr=8-3

With a drill on low speed it will not hurt your paint at all.

Only thing is it will leave lots of rubber debris which is no big deal. Just wash it off and apply some polishing or rubbing compound afterwards to shine it up.

Definitely start with heat gun or hair dryer like mentioned. It will make life easy for you lol
The wheel will clean all the extra up nice also as mentioned.

Yes you want to try and peel off as much as possible, chances are if its sunbaked its going to flake and crack some leaving tiny pieces. The wheel will get this off. Then polish to clean up afterwards

Good to hear you got it off..I use a steam cleaner. You can get a small one at like Home Depot or Lowes..Walmart....Anyway they take the vinyl and glue off together. It keeps the decals wet and they dont dry out and crack. They dont get hot enough to hurt the paint also. At my shop I have guys telling me all the time they can do it faster with the rubber wheel but it comes out cleaner and IMO Im faster. No mess(other than water) and then your ready for a glaze or some compounding if the paint is faded. Also works great on taking off old nasty window tint ;-)

You know one of my buddies swears by using steam on work trucks that are getting new names put on them, but I've never had one to try or seen it used. Good to hear.

I have never thought of trying a steam cleaner to remove decals. I may have to try that next time.
