POST PICS: Head plates
Hey everyone. I've been looking for some good pics of cylinder head plates installed and couldnt find a lot out there. I recently removed my EGR/AIR and was most likely going to make my own plate but was curious of what others have. So if ya got a pic post it! A red engine bay would be perfect of course

Heres a shitty pic. Honestly, unless I point it out to someone, you can hardly see it.

I dont understand the point of these... or pretty much any other random pieces of chrome/polished...
A few reasons why I wish this fad would go away...
Most people that run them have an otherwise stock engine bay... This just creates a huge delta between the rusty manifolds and the extremely shiny head plate
(sorry jaxcam, your picture is here, so you're the example...)
Also, why do you want a mirror finish? What "image" will be shown? The back of your waterpump and tensioner...
Lastly, it creates an asymmetry, which I really dislike..

Cool thread, this is probably my favorite aesthetic piece under the hood and the one I see the least I would have to say. To me the head plate sticks out like a giant sore thumb and is just screaming for a pretty head plate to be put on it. I can't stand to look at a pretty engine bay with painted lids/intakes/valve covers, fuse box/battery covers, !wire mod, pcm covers, etc and then see a giant blank dull spot almost the size of my hand sitting there wide open. The only time I'm not a fan is if someone has some aftermarket heads, then it's not needed b/c you can just show off the logo instead.

easy to make guys, mock up one with cardboard then cut it out in the metal you like. Same with the piece on top of are ls6 intake where the egr goes on the 98-2000

Its all good, For one I just bought my car last spring and slowly working on the "rusty manifold" situation Ive just been working on small things first on a student budget, Headers are for sure in my future. And the engine bay plastics on are painted gloss black. Its all personal preference and with the plans I have I think its gonna look way better having a subtle way of showing my build number without having 100 stickers all over the engine bay with #----. Contrast is the key to make anything look good and that eyesore of a bare spot of the head without the plate is rather annoying. And as far as why I got mirror finish, I like to be able to see parts and pieces that normally you wouldnt see or notice, its the engineer part of my brain that likes to see the inner workings and mechanics of different technologies. It may just be a water pump and tensioner to you but to me its mechanical physics and chemical bonds and the engineering it takes to make them structurally sound, if that makes any sense to anyone lol.
