Thumbs up Coming Soon: BLS 98-02 Firebird Bi-Xenon Projector Headlight Kit V.2

Many are aware of our current projector headlight retrofits for the 98-02 Firebirds. We have been working on a Version 2 design which utilizes a bi-xenon projector in lieu of the Hella 60mm projector single low beam only unit.

Customers already using our existing kit may upgrade to the new low beam position projectors without an issue. New and improved mounting brackets, custom split wire connectors, shrouds and lamps will be provided. These will mimic the look of your existing kit so nothing will look out of place. We are doing some testing with the 55W ballast to see if there are any bowl degradation issues.

For new customers, the existing pricing will be nearly identical for the new setup.

Below are the comparison shots between the Hella 60mm projector and the bi-xenon unit we are testing.

Both kits utilizing a 35W HID kit with 5000k lamps. As you can see, the new projector provides better light distribution (notice the edges) and a less pronounced step in the cutoff.

Hella 60mm - 35W ballast / 5000K lamps

Bi-Xenon Projector - 35W ballast / 5000k lamps

Which projector are you using in this V2 kit? Is it the Morimoto Mini? If so, stick with 35watt. Many have reported problems with 55watt causing damage.

Curious to see how you will make this work with sealing and stuff.

We are using a revised mounting frame which will come pre-assembled. Added measures will be taken to seal everything up from the elements.

This is not a mini Morimoto unit but they look and perform just like them based off of what we have seen. The high beam looks identical to the MH1. The projector was angled slightly which gave the bowed look of the low beam. We may just stick with the MH1 since its popular and well proven.

We are testing a couple units from a new manufacturer however they look pretty much like a MH1. They said they could handle a 55W kit but I doubt it. I'm well aware of the MH1 issues with the higher wattage ballasts so if these have the same problem, existing customers will need to just purchase 35W ballasts.

Should be nice to see a kit with a bixenon hid projector. I had to make my own with mini's and it was not fun. But the end result was worth it. Would've been easier to pay you to do it if I knew you were gonna come out with this lol.

Very interested in this! How are you sealing these compared to what we currently have?

Wonder why a notice didn't pop up for other replies to the thread. My apologies but anyway....

We are going to go with the MH1 for this setup since it performs well and is cost effective. I can see why you had trouble as we have been tinkering with this for a little while.

We are sealing these in a similar matter but will require a suitable sealant for some areas to keep out moisture. The mock-up is done but we just need to make sure it fits with no problems. One of the tricky areas is sealing the bulb holder portion since when the lights are down, these are right under the crack by the hood line and headlight cover.

Do you have an idea of the time frame until this new version is available? I've always been a fan of your headlights and now I think I'll actually be able to plunk some cash down for them.

Thanks! We will likely release a GP for these within the next month.

For existing customers, I would say roughly $200 to upgrade without lamps or ballasts. The MH1s won't like the 55w ballast and the lamp base is different. The lens, oem trim and relay harness would be retained from your current kit. You could likely sell your original projectors/mounting frames/hid kit as many may find it to be an affordable solution for better lighting. It would look similar to many of the other DIY threads floating around.

For new customers, the cost would be similar to current pricing.

Interesting. I like the cutoff of the new light a lot better than the older version I have.

Great news! I'm in if they'll seal better than the previous version.
