Default Best way to fix interior door panels on a 2000SS?

Here is what is happening to my door panels on my 2000 Camaro SS.

The armrest portion of the panel is coming apart where it meets the top panel. I have had the door panels off and I can see what the problem is. But to fix it properly I need to remove the arm rest panel itself from the mounting backer panel. While that is not too difficult, it does involve grinding off the nylon posts that are flattened against the back of the mounting panel . This does not leave a lot of options to re-attach it after that is done.

I have got to believe this problem I have with my door panels is somewhat common on the 4th gens so I was wondering if anyone else had to fix their door panels and if so how did you do it?

That is exactly what is happening to my driver side door as well, although I have not attempted to fix it yet.

Anyone figured out how to fix this? This is happening to both my doors right where the armrest is. Its pretty much pulling away from the door panel where the seam is. I will get a pic in a few minutes.

Is this just an issue with the leather interior cars? None of my cloth interior door panels have ever done this. I don't know if there is a difference in how the two are bonded. I've had the panels off to replace window motors but never paid much attention to the assembly of that area.

Super common, might be a leather problem..

I always figured it was the heat that does it over time

An easy less PITA way to fix it would be to hit ebay for a nice set of used ones instead of a months long fight trying to figure it out. Just merely a suggestion*

I assumed it was the heat creating the problem. When I look inside the crevice it looks like the armrest piece has a tab running the length of the top side and its held down by a little white piece that also runs the length of the top. Oh well looks like it's time to finally switch to the firebird panel if I can't find a cheap camaro one.
If anyone has fixed this issue ever please let me know.

The Firebird panels have their own issues - specifically the hard plastic at the top cracking.

I wish that someone made some REAL carbon fiber FULL interior door panels, with just a pull loop to close, and handle/lock/crank/switch/speaker holes cut to order for whatever one has.

Light, simple, no muss/fuss/glue/tabs/etc., and looks full race as well.

But then, I NEVER use that arm rest anyway.
Now the center console one, that one I DO use.
