Default Removing tint?

What's the best way to remove window tint?

I may unfortunately have to remove mine in order to get a sticker. It was raining the other day when I went to the shop I ussually get inspected at and I forgot to put my windows down. He saw the tint and told me it'd probably fail - he tested it with the meter and it's illegal. Which is funny, as it's really light tint. RI is just really strict on this.

Funny enough, I've had the car going on five years now, and the windows were like that when I bought it. I had already gotten my two previous stickers at this shop. When I mentioned that he said he'd gotten a couple of warnings from the state over tint and was now being very strict about it.

So unless I can find a shop that won't notice if I roll up with the windows down, I'm going to have to take it off.

Any tips?

I got pretty lucky, was able to take some Windex, chip at the very edges of the old tint with a razor and pull the rest smooth off with my hand, it left a lot of old glue reside behind though. Seems like the best way to do it would be a steamer though, much cleaner and quicker.

I just ripped my front tint off my hand, came off in one piece. The back I was scared of though lol. I would hate to rip the defroster off

I have always just pulled the tint off and used rubbing alcohol to remove the glue. Its worked well on the cars I have had to remove it from.

Well I lucked out. Both sides came off in one piece, I just worked up a corner and pulled. I didn't even need to remove any adhesive on the pass side, it came off that clean.

Unless you have trouble with local pd for tints before, I 'd try another shop or a friend with contacts.

Heat gun should definitely work, I have seen people remove tint with those as well.

If the tint is the type that is really on there like cement......

Here ya go, it will literally fall off, effortlessly. No razor scraping needed:
