Default Plans for my GTA.

So this week im going to get about 3k to do some work on my gta.

My car is an 88 gta, has a 4th gen spoiler. motor is an 02 ls1, has a cam, headers, ud pulley, ported tb etc ( ran a 12.4 @ 115). Curb weight is around 3050 without me in it. has alot of suspension stuff, wilwood brakes, t56, 9".

here is what it looks like now.

So, im looking for opinions, ideas etc. I plan to paint the car first off, ill get a good deal by helping, as you can see the car is already in primer, so illl pretty much be paying for paint. I plan to paint it Obsidian black (subaru Color). and put on a side buldge formula hood i have. (I may check with my cousin, because he has an 82 recaro t/a and it might have an aluminum hood.)

I then plan on putting the 84 graphics on the hood.

Performance wise, im going with the ms3 cam and a set of prc 5.3 2.5 heads, i should get 200 for my stock ls1 heads with the upgraded springs, and i should be able to pretty much trade my cam for the ms3.

here is what it will sound like.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rZIDHxi0rN4

other than that, id like to do an HID headlight conversion, and fix my leaking rear hatch.

what do you guys think?

Sounds like a great plan! If it were me, I would consider changing the wheels to show off those brakes. Either way the car will look and sound great!

I would not put the hood graphics on. Keep it clean and simple. If you have 243 heads on the car already, have them ported and skip the 2.5 heads.

I hate to be a stickler but it isn't really a GTA anyway, right? It's an 84 Trans am with GTA parts unless that's your other car. So you might as well throw some Formula parts in there too and call it a Trans FormGTA. LOL I don't mean that to sound nearly as nasty as it does.

He wrote that it was an '88 GTA. He just wanted to put on the '84 hood decal. But I agree, he should make his car whatever he wants.

He should make it whatever he wants because it's his car but he should call it what it is. That's all I'm saying. And for the record, it's not an 88 GTA, it's an 84 Trans am. In his own words http://www.fquick.com/garages/viewvehicle.php?id=28255

To me the buldge hood only looks good on the formulas or earlier firebids. They just dont look right to me w/ the trans am bumpers. I'd also lose that spoiler and go back to the factory gta/formula style. Thats just me thou

Also for the record, I read this from his first post:

"My car is an 88 gta..." and
"I then plan on putting the 84 graphics on the hood."

I'm not an expert on this guy's car, just reading what he posted.

Are you actually still debating what year his car is? Dude, read what he says on his car's web page. IT IS AN 84 Trans Am. He put parts on it from an 88 GTA so now he calls it an 88 GTA.
It's apparent that you can read. Give it a try. I posted his link for you. 3rd paragraph down says it was "originally an 84 Trans am" and " I put 88 GTA parts on it", like "hood", "spoiler", "taillights".

Keep the GTA wheels. I have them on my 89 so I guess I'm partial. Not feelin the hood graphics but if thats what you want don't let anyone talk you out of it.

Have you thought about lowering it? I put summit springs, basically a pro kit, on mine and I love the stance.

I wish I would have put an LS engine in mine.

And how did you get that car under 3000lbs? That's really light for a 3rd gen.

I didn't read his link, just what he posted here in his thread. I see now that it is an '84, just like you said. You were right, which I'm sure is what you wanted to read from me.

I missed that his car was an '84 which was posted in the link, but you missed the point of this thread. The point was to give opinions on this guy's car, not to get in a pissin' contest with me about a bunch of nothing.

If you find someone who will give you $200 for your stock ls1 heads let them know I have a pair I've been trying to sell for $50 plus shipping with no bites.

I would paint it SOM, and put different wheels on it. Something from OE that was pretty understated.

Yea its really an 84, big deal, its easier just to say its an 88 gta, rather than explain the life story everytime i post something about it. I guess i could say 88 gta clone. and you're really being a dick saying i should just throw watever parts at it, like it doesnt matter what i do to it because its not a real gta, how about you go find someone else to talk $hit to, cause i dont need your advice.

i was thinking since that it had newish patriot gold springs, i could get $200 for them.

I like the wheels

Ls1 engine, removed ac, cats, air pump, rear seats, gta wheels are light, seats are non power, alum driveshaft, tubular lower control arms etc...its not under 3k, but it is under 31k with low gas.
