Question OE Cloth Seats vs. OE Leather Seats?

Anyone have experience with both OE Cloth and OE Leather seats on 98-02 4th Gen's? My former Z28 had cloth but it's been a while since I sold it. I'm trying to determine if one is more comfortable than the other? I need to find a more comfortable seat (namely passenger seat), but don't feel like dropping $600 on Corbeau seats at the moment.

Don't bother with the cloth ones. I have them in my SS They are not comfortable at all and they don't even breathe so when it's 90 degrees out your back will be sweating like crazy. The leather ones however are not much more comfortable and I feel like they breathe more. I only drove the car with leather seats for about 10 minutes (test drive)

GTO seats seem to be the best.

Lets not confuse the factory seats with leather. Calling the factory seats leather is like calling Taco Bell or Olive Garden authentic foreign cuisine.

the part you sit on is leather. I have both, leather makes you sweat in the summer and they are cold in the winter. Cloth is more comfortable ..... but nothing beats the LOOK of leather.

Had both in my Firebird, no difference in support. The pleather was more uncomfortable in the summer.

If I change again, it will be for aftermarket or seats from another vehicle.

Thanks guys. Do GTO seats bolt right up or would I need to find/fab an adapter bracket?

Wife loves the leather, not the fan of the stock angle but thats the same for both seats. IMO LT1 cloth is far better then LS1 cloth.

firebird seats look & feel better than camaro seats.
Leather looks good and cleans easy but stays cold in winter & hot in summer.
I personally never felt that was too much of a issue, even on 100* days.

I had camaro cloth seats, worse seats ever. I replaced em with ebay seats. ok

picking up seats from a 2006 Acura rsx this weekend, will let you know.
Theres a thread about retrofiting them into camaro here on tech.

Those and vette seats are ones I had looked at in the past. The downside is the stitching of the name on them, making me lean towards aftermarket options.

Search for GTO seats, if I remember correctly, they were a little wider but not as in like you can't close the door wider. And need to alter the tracks.

you know whats funny? i replaced the factory "leather" in my car with the hampton vinyl kit from hawks and the hampton vinyl feels more like soft leather than the factory stuff did.

I dont mind the stock TA seats too badly, but am thinking about putting a pair of mustang seats in. They are more comfortable IMO. Of course, the TA seats seem to hold you in place a little better in hard turns and such. Just a thought for now. My buddies Mach 1 seat were like sitting on clouds compared to my TA.

Leather looks good, cloth doesn't. All my TA's had leather, my Z28 now is leather, and my last Z28 had cloth seats. Cloth was more comfy ( I think? ) didn't get hot/cold. Regardless, 45+ minutes in any 98-02 seat destroys my lower back, and I'm a youngin'. Even when i was 17 my WS6 hurt like hell after a while.

Imo cloth is much more comfortable but leather or vinyl is easier to clean. From 1993-2001 I was a top producer selling Katzkin leather kits to new car dealers & retail customers. Most cars are leather facing (the part where your back & butt touch) & the rest is vinyl except on very high end cars. Some cheat & the back seat is all vinyl (both oe & aftermarket).
The oe leather seats in my car feel like a park bench after 30 minutes of driving. I hate getting into an oven or a freezer. I would need an emergency remote start if this car was my dd or I had no garage.

I have the cloth seats in my 02 Formula. Not that bad, I am looking into some kind of a leather seat cover though as I do love the smell of leather getting into a car. But I think the covers are vinyl lol....6 in one hand, half a dozen in the other.

Katzkin.com should have the pattern. They are better than oe skins. Your cloth skins get removed. Not cheap around 6-700 + install. They do the auto aftermarket trade. I was in the business & bought thousands from them. I don't think fbodies.
