Default RGB LED Gauge Cluster

I have seen various threads on a single color LED conversion but has anyone used rgb LEDs for their conversion. It would take a little more modification than the standard conversion but I believe it could be a cool project. I did a mock up on my desk and made this video

I haven't tried to sand the tips of the leds to disperse the light evenly or anything like that. I would be able to control the color with a RPG or pushbutton or whatever is desired. I tried to record some of the other colors but my camera couldn't really detect them.

Does anyone have any opinions on this or has anyone done this and want to offer some advice?

Thanks

You can put RGB 194 LEDs in the cluster and they work. No control of the color though. It will just fade through them all. Kinda annoying IMO.

That would definitely be annoying. I have some leds like that and I hate them.

You would be able to control the color this way but you would need to supply power for the red, green, and blue prongs on the led. I just made those cycle so you could see the different colors.
