Default 4th Gen Z28/RS Appearance Package Opinions?

I have a 2001 Z28 with this stock "GM Appearance Package" body kit.

At first when I got the car at 21 years of age I loved it.

Now being 25, I almost want to get rid of the car because of it.

I just cant ever picture the car being built with slicks on it looking right with the ground effects.

A SS looks great but I don't know about this, I just think the ground effects look kind of lame with the car. Too flashy/Ricer. I don't think fast cars take it seriously.

Can I remove them so it would look like a base Z28?

Does anyone else have similar beliefs/feelings/opinions on this matter or feel what I am saying?

I enjoyed my 98Z with that same package. It was wrecked and I got a 01' SS. I can't picture my SS with a body kit. It really depends on the look or style of the car (EX: McNords car). You can remove it and just do a good detail.

See I'd love to have a clean SS and just lower it.

I'm in the middle of a dilemma.

The car has 75k on it.

I could get a C5 ZO6 but I am going to have kids down the road and cannot take the wife and kid(s) to a car show in that. I am unsure on it.

My z28 is getting up there in mileage and I can't picture driving it 10 years from now. But do I really sell it for another F-Bod?

Because I want to either start modding or buy the vette by the end of next summer.

Btw: How can I search for "McNords" car?

https://ls1tech.com/forums/appearanc...-inside-2.html McNord is in this thread along with Killer-LS1 car. They are both done right with different themes.
I wanted a Corvette but just became a dad so maybe down the road.

I think the cars look a lot better without the kit but some cars look "ok" with it, but the little stick on crap on the rear spoiler I absolutely cannot stand on any car period. It looks like pure glued on rice factor to me.

Thats what I'm saying. I just feel I could have a LS7 in it and still not care for the car. And its sad because I really do like the car.

Am I able to remove the entire kit without there being holes or anything?

Is it noticeable that the ground effects was once on there? Did you have to buff/detail anything?

Do you have any pics of it afterwards?

Aw man, that looks great. I wonder if there is a sticky anywhere on how to do it. It looks like he had to drill out some plastic rivets?

Hey, sorry just seeing this. I'm in Afghanistan and don't get on here too much lately...
Yeah, the car wasn't hard to remove the kit from, but my car is probably unique from yours because I actually added the kit to it.... I was like you, younger, and liked it. Now that I am older I think it is so much better looking without the kit. Your car will have a lot of holes where the skirts were, so plan on just dealing with it for now, and taking it to a body shop when you can, or DIY... Either way, I encourage you to take it off and sell it. I sold my kit for like a thousand bucks shipped. Some people sell for way less, I just found the right buyer lol...

Just to show you some more angles, here are some newer pics I have, with stripes and junk.
Have a looksy.

The stripe idea had a lot of interest... Lots of others said they would do the same thing, yet haven't seen anyone else do it yet lol...

I actually like the way the kit looks, especially in real life because it gives the illusion of the car being lower then it actually is.I would remove the rs stick on wing and add an SS wing though and also an SS hood or cowl hood.

I had the kit in my car when I bought it. The first day I had it home it came off lol. Just drill out the rivets. The spoiler wing is going to have 3 holes on the sides that need to be filled/painted and you can either get a new spoiler or fill the holes that'll be in the original one and paint it.

I seen you said by the skirts now. Are the holes underneath or on the side meaning very visible ? lol

What did you do about the holes?

btw the stripes look great!

How do I even begin to remove the spoiler? I am lost on where to begin. And will a SS Spoiler fill in the holes or are there holes on the rear quarter panel by the tail lights as well?

Damn holes!
