To do it reliably/safely, you'll have to run some wires and relays to hard wire it in. If you don't have them, buy the following:
Soldering iron
Solder
Extra wire
Electrical tape
Shrink tubing
1 or 2 (preferably 2) relays
A Chilton's or Haynes manual for your car
Use the manual to determine which of the wires on your bumper lights are for DRL. Cut the wire, put the relay in series and run two relay output wires to the DRL bulb and the fog. Run power and ground to the relay and secure it in a safe place under hood.
My response is half-assed because I'm almost sure you won't want to do all this work for the effect. If you still want to do it, maybe I'll elaborate.
BTW, this may get a better response in the Stereo and Electrical section...

I haven't done it, that's just how you would do it. Personally, I have deleted the auto headlight feature and made the little 194 bulbs a part of my drl. But fog lights on all the time? Not for me. Anytime I take out the 894 fog bulbs, they are corroded and falling apart. I'd hate to see what their reliability as drls is... Good luck

I believe if you do this MOD it will work. It will make the system think its always daytime and never auto activate the headlights, and you need the headlights on to turn on the foglights. During the day you can just turn on the fogs or leave them on, however you will lose the automatic headlights.

In stock wiring, you can only turn on the Fog Lights if the headlight switch is either in the Parking -or- Headlight ON position.
It's not difficult to swap it around to give you manual control (but I don't remember which wires to change).

DaRReLL, like you said, that mod will make the sys think it is always daylight and defeat the auto-light. However, it has no effect on your control of the fog lights.

If your main goal is to just not have the headlights up when they are on then just flip your headlight switch to the middle position.
You'll always have your night time rear lights and side lights on like this but the headlights will be down.

The middle position will make the headlights come up also. What i want is the foglights to act like dtrl

The headlights should stay down in the middle position. You might have a problem with the gears. That is a common symptom. A grinding noise is a definite indicator.

To get the fogs to act like a DRL in the true sense your going to have to do it with relays. The DRL module controls the DRL function in these cars. The turn signal output and DRL output are supplied through the same wire, so you cant just transfer the DRL wire over to the fog lights. If you did that the fogs would act as the turn signal too.
The only way I can see to have the fogs operate like a DRL is to use a 5 terminal Bosch relay. That way you can turn the fogs on thru the ignition switch switched 12v wire, then use the headlight or parking light wire to switch the fogs off when the lights are turned on, your preference there. Wired that way the fogs would be on all the time in the key/on position except for when you turn the light on, then the fogs would shut off and if you wanted them on you'd have to turn the on via the factory switch. Pretty simple basic wiring, nothing complicated. Your not replacing or removing any factory wiring to the fog lights, , however you will splice into the factory pos+ fog wire though.
