Default Where to Mount Smartphones

I have an 02 Camaro. I was wondering if anybody mounts their phones on the dash, seeing as how freaking angled the windshield is, I would never be able to have my big *** phone blocking my view if I wanted to use the GPS. I have a Galaxy Note 2. I just ordered a Iottie Note 2 mount. It can be stuck to the dash or windshield and does not require one of those stupid disks to mount on as the base is some kind of jel type stuff and is pretty sticky. But I was thinking about mounting it to the right of the steering wheel on the flat part of the dash. Any thoughts? Anybody else have this phone or one with similar dimensions and mounted it in their Camaro/Firebird?

I have a HTC evo and I just recently bought nexus 7 tablet. And I recently installed the torque app on both and I am trying to think of what to do, I have been looking at mounts for these devices but I want one that floats off the dash and doesnt just sit on the dash pad, pretty sure it would all have to be made from scratch. I want to try and make a mount that is interchangeable to both devices the places the devices infront and to the left of the center a/c vents. I havent looked much into possible mounting locations but it seems possible to customize a universal mount to fit.
As far the best place to put a sticky mount is probably on that flat part, anywhere else is to curvy and wont stick or puts the phone on to much of an angle to see when u need it at a quick glance depending on the glare.

When I was on vacation, I was watching TV at night, drunk of course, and I remember seeing a commercial for a phone holder that suction cups to your window and has something on it so it will grip your phone, but I forget what it was. It was perfect though! Damn alcohol! LOL

EDIT: 10 minutes of searching, I found it!!!

I know your phone is a lot bigger than mine but I just sit my iPhone in the cup holder in the center console or I'll lean it up against the part where the cig lighter goes.

Yeah the Note 2 is too big to fit in the cup holder, or the place in front of the ash tray. So it just stays in my pocket or the passenger seat until I get the mount.

Hah wow. I just got the Iottie Mount and it fits very nicely. One small thing however it does vibrate just a slight hair. But im sure that due to me having Sportlines and my AGXs set to like 6 out of 8 lol

The switch is a momentary switch for the line lock.

I mounted my smartphone in the garbage. I'll get an old fashioned rotary phone before I get another one of those. Someone made a custom console with a special slot designed right into it to mount one. If I can find the thread...

My Samsung gs3 with an aluminum bumper case fits perfectly where sommer86 has his mount fabbed. Its kinda cool with the aluminum bumper case it was like the phone was built to fit right there. It literally snaps in place and is held in firmly. even allows me to plug it in on the side if necessary

Here are some pics I took yesterday of the new iphone 5 holder I made. Cost about $12 to make.

Basically I put a couple of wide loop velcro strips across the cubby hole panel with the lighter removed. Then put the hook side of the velcro on the 6LE panel delete plate. (http://6litereaterdesigns.com/store/...products_id=47) Just buy one on sale to save some $$...or sweet talk him for a killer deal, lol.

Then I bought an iphone5 swivel holster from a site for $2.50, then mounted it to the 6LE plate with JB Weld. Let it sit overnight and it's ready to velcro to your dash and out of the way.

(sorry the dust still looks like a CSI crime scene, lol.)
