Default Question? Gauges in Trans Am Center Vent

i searched an to my surprise found nothing

so i want to mount a a/f wideband in my center vent in my trans am
now i know i wll need these items

1. AutoMeter 2 1/16" angled trim ring (they come in packs of three) $10
2. Liquid Plastic Model Cement (for model airplanes....sold at WalMart and hobby stores) $5
3. 1x 5/8" outside diameter/ 1/2" inside diameter rubber grommet $1

and drill a hole in the bottom of the air duct. feed the lines thru and use the 5/8grommet there

just wondering if anyone has done this and has a picture walk thru?

ive only seen walk thru's for camaros.. i figure it is the same.. but im just wondering if another grommet or fitting was needed to hold the angled trim ring inside the vent

thanks in advanced!

You're over thinking this. When you pop off the center vents, you'll see that you have plenty of room to snake wires up into the area from the center stack area. Pull the radio and it's cake.

As for fitment, I use a AEM wideband, as well as the trim rings that one of the sponsors on here sells, I forget which one, but they are billet aluminum and fit perfectly.

Here's what mine looks like:

Also check out this video at about the 2:10 mark and see them now.

Looks sick! I figure the a/f will help me tune my 6.0 and besides, i figure that will be the best place for it. And an easy fix for my busted vent haha

Speed Inc sells the gauge rings on their site. They're tough to find on there but they're there.

Also that car sounds awful in the video.

Thanks, yeah, I forgot it was Speed INC that carries them.

Awful is a personal opinion. Lots of love / hate reaction to the sound of a Procharger, but thanks for your opinion. The intermitant chirping is my idler pullies on the a/c. Both have bearings that are dried out and need to be replaced. I keep meaning to pick up new idler pullies but forget to.

I love the sound to SCs and on the right car/truck turbos sound good with the right blowoff valve

Some people thought the way i did it was cheesy but i wasnt about to pay 25 a piece for the aluminium ones. I used a rubber pipe coupler from home depot for 8 dollars each. You can do a search and find the original write up on how i did it. Im on mobile site so i can look it up

I used the same thing that the alchemist did on his, only I got my piece from home depot for about 7 bucks and had to make minor modifications to it to get in to fit right in the vent and also fit my wideband. I can post a pic if you would like. Since my car is slowly turning in a race car anyway, I didn't feel like running the wires through the whole vent system so right behind where the radio sits I drilled a big hole to run the wires through and it turned out very nicely.

Why not buy the gauge that actually fills up the hole?

Because not every gauge is available in the correct size. My meth/water injection gauge is part of the kit, and it was this size as well as my AEM wideband. I bought both because of their qualities and functions and made work the size of the gauge.
