Custom Center Console
Hey Guys,
I finished my custom center console project. Took lots of time with a soldering iron and many new wires.
The quality isn't great from my phone but I:
1) added a digital RPM gauge
2) added a digital Volt gauge
3) added lit Line Lock button
4) added a lit main power button
The ash tray is converted into the cutout controller with LCD readout. Open/Close and Program selection buttons are now soldered to blue lit LED momentary switches. The controller is also controllable through a wireless relay switch on the key chain.
Let me know what you guys think. I really did it because I hated having a little box sit inside the ash tray for the controller, it just gout out of hand from there.

I bought spare gauges on e-bay that are not of the best condition and de-soldered the LCD displays. I made wiring harnesses soldered to the contacts of the LCD and made leads on the PCB for the gauge "insides."
I measured the LCD's and had EmblemPros cut me custom sizes instead of switch holes.
The switches are also e-bay special, but those are more expensive because they are lit as well.
Everything runs through a SPST relay you can find at any local autoparts store.
The remote relay controller is again an e-bay special. Lot's of china dealers on there with them, and are only about $15.
I have some pictures I can post of the build, but most wiring was done on a bench.

Here is a good write up on taking the cutout controller apart. Unfortunately QTP has discontinued this item, and the controller used in this take down has the easy male/female pins removal. On the later models they are soldered directly to the board. You need to be moderately proficient at de-soldering or cut the pins off and solder new wires directly to the pins.

This was the case with the digital gauge as well. No easy removal LCD display, had to cut it off and make my own wiring harness to the LCD display.

Thanks guys. I'm planning on a custom shift light. I will take pics of that build to help explain the process. Hopefully everyone likes that.
I am waiting on the parts to arrive.

Sorry for the long delay in updates. The videos show a test of the custom shift light I made for the display console. Starts at 500 RPM and goes to 8000 RPM. Red indicates the optimum shift at 6500-7000 RPM on the right hand side.
Hopefully have time to install it during the week next week for the full test.
Thanks Guys let me know what you think!

Thanks, I was playing with a few ideas but I figured I would give it a try. Wanted to use something that allowed you to keep up with the shifts without having to look at the TAC. I will put a separate toggle switch for engagement of the lights too so you can turn it off.
