Default 1999 z28 a4 174k build thread

about a month ago i picked up a 99 z28 a4, one owner with 122k miles. no rust underneath or anywhere else, and garaged all the time. completely stock with water pump, brake master cylinder and front brakes already replaced. I've done ripped off the front plate and grill, fra mod, and heater hose mod to the rear springs. all comments appreciated!

before plasti dip

after plasti dipped stock 16in wheels, only one coat tho

tried the front corners. i like it alot but it was too dark for the bulbs to shine thru, figured it was illegal so i peeled it off

and now whistler mod

I tried to sand the lenses while they was off by starting off with 800 grit, then 1000, then 2000 and finished it off by hand with meguries yellow fluff ball and plastix cleaner

also picked up slp dual/dual axle back system off local craigslist for $40

Looks good, black out the camaro badge on the hood and get the tail lights smocked out, would be evil looking, like it either way

dude, sharp car, not just saying that because i have an identical one lol, but i have to say, the whole plasti-dip wheels look, is about as original as a flame paint job these days, and twice as ugly. wheels are expensive but so worth it. other than that shes sharp man.

thanks jde, i know the plasti dip is prolly wore out on here but im not part of some huge car club or around people that are doing these mods so its new to me and i dont see anyone else doing it around me, plus i spent all my money tax money on the car. cant doing anything but these cheap easy mods and make it my own. i do plan on sparying a few more coats of plasti dip and then adding gloss black on the top. i still appreciate the comments tho

blownbayou, the exhaust is not finalized yet. its actually slid on 3" over my pre-existing pipe right in front of the axle, it surprisingly doesnt leak but i am still gonna get it right before i weld it up

I had those same exhaust tips on the Camaro when I purchased it two years ago. Ditched them as quick as I could and replaced them wit some corsa clones

Nice job on the headlights. I did mine at work.

Thanks again jde, I also saw another black camaro without the grille and liked it better so I did it and love it. Although be very careful when pulling it off cause the bumper started to crack around the top clips, so I had to use pliers to chew at the plastic studs to break them. Do not just yank it off, I read that all over but if I had not paid attention to I would have destroyed my front bumper

DeLaRosa thanks, seems like a lot of work to put similar tips back on. I had an 89 firebird with 3.5in slash cut tips and really liked em. My buddy had a green 91 camaro rs at the same time had prolly 2.5in corsa style tips but he was an idiot and always kept f-ing up the car so these tips remind me to much of him and his car.

The Whistler mod is painting the housing inside the headlight

No problem jde, glad to help. I think I'm gonna try to find those 3.5in slash tips. Anybody know where the best place to find them? Don't think I wanna use the local parts store shitty metal tips

Yea they are not similar tips lol. Corsa are a vast improvement in the rear, and also are a bit larger and look 100xbetter... $95 shipped is not bad.

Probably 20mins maybe. I made sure to lengthen the time of sanding when I started to get in the finer sand paper like 1000 and 2000 grit
