Default Paint is bubbling on pillar behind T-Tops...

I thought it could never happen to me, I put to my care and effort into cleaning my car, guess its just the shitty GM paint

So my car was parking in the garage in the shade for a week or so, I pull it out and notice something right away on the passanger side.........looked all wavy, then I realize its friggin bubbles.....

Any idea if this is just in the clear?

I'll have the whole thing repainted if necessary

There was a thread about this not too long ago. It has something to do with the adhesive GM used I believe for that panel. Theres a TSB on it, you should be able to take the car by the dealer and they should be able to fix it for you

I'll probably just have a local body shop redo it, if its going to be around $200

Performance mods shouldn't negate a paint warranty.

Yea, they always find a way to bitch though, I don't think I would really trust them driving the car w/the charger and the Th400, etc....

Take the car into the dealership you show the bodyshop the problem the the service part. They look at it order the part in (takes about a week) then they paint it and you bring it in the put it on (takes a day) you pick it up the next day. Why spend your own $$$

BTW it cannot be repainted a whole new piece needs to be ordered and then painted. If they just repaint it the bubbles will still show.

Is this just happening to particular years? Or are all 4th gens affected?

I've read several threads on this subject here recently.

bos just give Hacker Joe a call, he would prolly be your best bet. I bet he could fix it without having to repaint the whole pillar..and you wouldn't have to worry about him having your car..someone with a 9 second certification can handle pulling your car in and out of a paint booth

That is very true, I got a good local body shop as well, but both are good options, do you have Hackers # ?

Repainting will NOT fix this. The panel has to be replaced.

I took my car in a year ago for this same problem. Luckily I had 2 weeks left on my warranty and got it taken care of. I asked the service man how much would it have been if I did not have warranty and he told me about $1000.

Thank you, so I figure $350, plus another 200 or so for paint.......
