Default Trans Am WS6 Paint Correction

I initially thought the paint just had the normal swirls like most cars until I really starting examining the paint under my lights.

A lot of the damage on the hood and front bumper was really deep. I ended up having to go with 2000 grit wet sanding on the entire hood and front bumper. There is still some defects but I didn't want to risk going through the clearcoat. The hood and front bumper will evetually get recleared because of this. There were a few scratches that were wet sanded but were too deep so I will have to use some touch up paint and wet sanding to blend it in but I didn't have time for that this time around.

I put about 10 hours into the wet sanding, compounding with Meznerna Fast Gloss 400, polishing with Menzerna Power Finish 2500, and jeweling with Menzerna Super Finish 4500. I topped the car with Bouncer's Sherbert Fizz wax.

The rims were polished with Menzerna Fast Gloss 400 with a 4" orange pad on my PC.

I didn't take any before pictures of the total car because it wasn't dirty. I washed it with Chemical Guys Citrus Wash and Gloss to stripe the paint. I clayed it with a Speedy Prep Medium grade towel because I don't think it has ever seen one in its life. I think that about wraps it up. The car is really a head turner now with all the work on the paint. Enjoy the pics.

WOW, so clean man. In the garage under the light I can see that mines has those same looking fine scratches/swirls that yours did and it only has 16k miles, I guess this is from improper washing and what not over the years. They really bother me, I need get this done one day.

What I appreciate is the good before and after pics. Most people take good before pics showing paint defects then the after pics are from ten feet away. There's a reason for that.

The OP has great before AND after pics.

Thanks. Proper washing is key to keeping a paint free from defects. 2 buckets is always a good practice and knowing when to do a full blown wash versus a rinseless or waterless wash.

Thanks. I find the after close ups are the most important shots because it shows the actual correction versus someone just saying they are gone.

Great work and great pics and sweet WS.6.

I corrected an 02 SOM Formula last year and as if this color isnt sweet enough, when its blemish free and polished, it gets better 10 fold.

Try machine applied compound and polish. If that doesn't work, then wet sand with 1000 grit and then re-compound and re-polish.

Pretty much as stated above. Treated them just like the paint.
