Default Remove Original "Trans Am" Vinyl

So I ordered some new vinyls from Brent Franker, heard some great stuff from him. Though he has some great tutorials of how to install vinyls, I didn't see any that were how to remove existing vinyls. One of my orders was for the tail light filler, mine are pretty faded:

Any ideas how I can remove these so I can be ready to install the new ones?

Only way I have found is to wet sand and polish that panel to get the original off. I have to do the same to mine for my Brent Franker vinyls.

I used a rag and some rubbing alcohol. It came off super easy.

So it came off but now there's like a little silhouette of the old decal left on. Barley noticeable, but enough to bug me. Is this supposed to peel off?

Wet sand it and then polish it would be the way to properly remove it. But if you're getting new overlays, you'll just be covering the outline up anyway.

And wouldn't the old outline be beneficial so you put the new vinyls in the exact factory location?

Well I just used a combination of rubbing alcohol and nail polish remover. Between the two the nail polish remover worked best. It left the raised portion and kind of clouded up the black of the panel but I will be buffing it shortly to see if that cleans it back up.

But to remove the red, the nail polish remover worked best.

I had to wet sand mine to get that to go away.

Idk why you'd mess with nail polish if it leaves burns/marks and doesn't remove it all the way. You'll probably end up wetsanding/polishing/buffing to get rid of that issue so why not just wetsand and polish in the first place? lol.

I think a majority of the marks were from how hard I was rubbing with the rag. I also soaked a rag with the 70% alcohol and draped it across the lettering. When I pulled that off there were some marks from the alcohol drying.

I don't think the nail polish remover caused much if any marking. I phrased my post wrong.

I had this same issue and my mom suggested oven cleaner. I laughed my *** off, but then tried it.

Minor rubbing and it came right off, left no residue at all.

As an update. Used some rubbing compound (I think) this morning and all the cloudy marks came right off. Looked brand new after it was done.
