Default Why are matching front end bulbs so hard to find?!

So, I'm planning on updating my front lights a bit using LMC housings and brighter/whiter halogen bulbs. I'm not looking to dump a ton of money in a HID system. Problem is trying to find a manufacture that makes both the 9006sx and 880 bulbs together in the same color range say, 4000k-5000k. I really want them to match as close as possible.
I put ZXE's (love or hate at your leisure) in the wife's car and was interested in them. Alas, no 880. Looke at PIAA, alas, no 9006sx. I'm not entirely sure of the quality of these made in wherever ricer bulbs. Ideas? Any help is greatly appreciated.

Edit: I know the silverstars are an option. I've used them but, they don't seem worth the cost.

go with hids from ddm tuning , cheap and pretty reliable. Or go with a nice hid kit from morimoto and get a led 880 bulb just for looks and color basically .

I've been reading through posts and it seems that, even though there are many who run DDM HID's in LMC body's, there are lots of issues with light ditribution, blinding, legalities, etc. Just not sure I want to deal with all of that.

Look into a set of Philips X-Treme Vision's. Philips bulbs are much better than sylvania's. Another option is looking into some HIR's (9011 and 9012).

The HIRs are great. You wont get more light output and lifespan from any other non hid bulb. I can't say if they will interfere with your headlight buckets or not though since they are right angle bases. You'll also have to modify the tabs on your bulbs by snipping a little piece off to get them to lock into the 9005/9006 holes. Also, you can get these bulbs from HomeDepot to have a convenient return/warranty place to deal with.

Here is info on modding the HIR bulbs:

Edit:
Here is a link to a guy that figured out how to modify a right angle bulb to fit the stock bucket and lmc housings.

Last bulb you'll ever buy. Check out their warranty.

Well, I appreciate everyone's input but, after a lot of reading I've decided not to put HID's in the LMC housings or, modify my buckets. I'm going to try ZXE's in the heads and PIAA 880's in the fogs. Will it match or look good? Will it be any significant difference from stock? We'll hope for the best and see.

Just remember that a blue coated bulb will have less light output than one that is uncoated. HIR's not to be confused with HID's will give the most light output. I would go with a Philip's X-Treme Vision over the ZXE's.

Sorry to hijack this thread but is anybody here actually running the hir's in stock ls1 camaro headlights? I have been researching them and they are saying they shouldn't be used in a housing like ours that doesn't have a shield at the front of the bulb cuz they will glare. If you notice 9006 bulbs have a shield at the tip which blocks light from going directly straight out the housing, the 9012 hir bulbs don't

LS1 camaro headlights have a built in glare shield. HIR's are fine to run in these housings because of that. That is also why it is "somewhat ok" to run a PNP HID kit in the LS1 camaro housings, proper alignment will be needed after the PNP is installed. But glare can be minimalized somewhat with these housings.

I'll be installilng Phillips 9012 HIR2's when i get back to the states from this deployment I'm on.

Stock
-- low: 9006
-- high: 9005

HIR
-- low: 9012
-- high: 9011

Might need slight trimming of a lock tab on the bulb for it to fit, but they will fit and still use the optics properly for a proper beam pattern with increased output.

See here on what to trim:

Well one of my bulbs recently blew so i ended up getting the phillips 9012 hir bulbs. I previously had silverstars which somehow lasted a very long time. One pic is with a silverstar in the driver side headlight and an hir bulb in the passenger one. The other pic is with hir bulbs in both headlights. Sorry for the crappy pics but as you can see the hir's are definitely brighter
